I guess no divisions, since we don’t play UTEP?

Yep, No divisions. I'll trade a game in El Paso to a drive-able away game in Bowling Green any day.

That back half of the schedule is maybe the toughest 6 straight games we have faced

No different than the original schedule.

I just hope we aren't so tired and beat up going into the LSU game that we aren't competitive in what could b a nationally-televised(to some degree) game - especially with our tendency to seemingly discount non-conference games and a potential end-of-season surge toward the CUSA championship game...

SMH.

I think we picked up the 4 toughest teams on what used to be the east. Middle and Charlotte looks to be trending up and definitely would have challenged Marshall. FAU returns most of their team and WKU will probably retool ok.

..the TENATIVE plan is that Cincinnati, Central Florida, and Houston will leave the AAC for the Big XII in time for the 2023 season (i.e., leave the AAC in summer of 2023) - they are not dependent upon Texas and Oklahoma leaving, so the Big XII will be a 14-team league for a year or two (along with BYU into the Big XII); as such, UAB and the other 5 AAC-bound teams will leave C-USA in summer 2023, and play in the AAC in fall of 2023, as a 14-team league.

You never really know until a few games in to the conference schedule on who is better or not but don't think CUSA is going to do us any favors w/ us going out as well. I think it's an ok schedule, hate that no off week in the later part of the season.

RE: New 2022 football schedule released
I think our schedule got harder both in the quality of opponents and how it lays out.

I think MTSU and Charlotte are better teams than USM and UTEP while I think WKU is on par with Marshall. Going to Bowling Green is one of the tougher road games in the league.

Having 6 straight games with no open date on the back half — ouch. Tough back to back road trips at WKU and FAU. We get UTSA at home but they will be the preseason favorite to win the league, and I know we trucked them last year but let’s not overlook at UNT played as well as any team in the conference in the back half of last season. Then we close with two tough Louisiana road trips.

Depending on how WKU looks replacing their skill people, I think the case could be made that the 2022 sked is more difficult than last seasons.

Minus the early open date, this is a good thing. We will be moving up to the AAC that has harder opponents. Why not spend our last year in CUSA playing the better opponents in the league? Will help us prepare for the jump.

RE: New 2022 football schedule released
From the schedule posted, it looks as though we have a ‘bye’ week on Saturday 24 September between the Georgia Southern (17 September) and Rices (01 October) games, and that’s it. It could be brutal toward the end.

On the bright side, at least we get our ‘bye’ week when it’s still warm/hot. I’m sure the players prefer it that way if we get just one week off.
