Yes, but he was a great player for USC. The few years of experience Paris has is not that significant.
Paris has BJ beat in every metric when it comes to coaching.
Been an assistant since 97.
was an Assistant at a P5 school for 7 years.
Was a head coach of a Div 1 program for 5 years.
took his team to the NCAA tournament.
McKie has only been in coaching since 2011 (Paris was already at Wisconsin for a year before he even started).
has been a P5 assistant coach for 2 years, no head coaching experience.
They ONLY reason BJ has fast tracked his career so much (not saying he is a bad coach) is because of his on the court credentials not his on the bench ones.
And as I said the only reason he made it that far in the hiring process was because it was South Carolina.
I admit when it came down to 2 I thought he had the job but I think Paris is the better choice.
EDIT: The better choice between those 2, not sure he is the hire I would make but If iwere betweeen McKie and Paris
I would go with Paris on experience but maybe McKie to make the fanbase happy (and if it didn't work out, well YOU wanted him)
McKie would have been the safer hire for the AD.
