The Weekend of 3/5/2022 - No cars, no shoppers, no diners, no workers
Although it was against my will, my wife and I did a number of errands this weekend in several cities within 30 miles of home.
The Biden economy is hitting, and it is hitting hard and fast.
There were very few cars on the road. Streets and parking lots were empty like a Super Bowl Sunday.
There were very few people shopping.
Lowe's and Home Depot were very sparse. Lowe's didn't have enough cashiers to open their garden section up on a Sunday morning. At both stores we parked right at the front next to the door on a beautiful, sunny spring day.
Cracker Barrell had entire sections closed for lack of business. The waitresses were busing their own tables.
The one exception to shoppers and autos was people buying gas at Sam's Club. They had a guy directing traffic at the gas pumps.
And one actual complaint. McDonald's has an "any drink for $1 promotion". We were told they only had small size cups available. That was fine because I was having trouble swallowing after they told me that.
What did you see last weekend?

Everything in Charlotte was normal. Maybe even a bit busier than normal. First nice weather weekend.

$4.09 gas.
Crowded roads.
Crowded rivers. (Great fishing weekend)
90 minute wait at a restaurant on Sat night.
Lowes packed with shoppers, light on staff.
Help wanted signs.
Port terminals usually full of fertilizer completely empty.

As an attorney who often helps clients sell their closely held businesses, I can probably say I’ve never seen this many people who own small business looking to get out.
That’s a sign of either cashing in on great times economically or people trying to beat feet out of Dodge before the sheriff shows up. I’ll let folks decide which it is for themselves.

On the beach Saturday it looked like Spring Break. Bumper to bumper traffic and all of the restaurant parking lots with people waiting to be seated AT 3:30 IN THE AFTERNOON. That's what sunny and 80 degrees gets you down South.

Folks that live in South Louisiana get a week off for Mardi Gras, and they love coming East to spend their money. Sure glad Slidell voted down their casino. Although there was going to be two good concert venues planned there.

Well there were also some large sporting events in town.
Charlotte FC & the Hornets both had home games.

Businesses and traffic are booming in Utah, and we had a snowstorm on Saturday.

My wife and I visited our daughter and son-in-law in Philly, and took the scenic route up the Delmarva Peninsula, past the Virginia farms and Delaware/Maryland beach spurs. We drive during off hours, and traffic may have been a bit less than normal. But along the say we saw:
=> A large mound of fill dirt on a Maryland farm topped by a purple "Let's Go Brandon" flag.
=> A mobile marquis sitting in a Delaware front yard purporting to compare gas prices from last year to this year.
=> Two private flag poles flying the American flag with a "FJB (spelled out) flag right underneath.
=> An enormous "Don't Blame Me, I Voted for Trump" banner covering most of the front of a Maryland home.
Anecdotal? Sure. But it kept the trip entertaining.

I'd think cashing out on a lifetime of work before Quid Pro Joe ***** them out of their business.

4.19 all over Memphis now. Saw it as high as 4.29 today. I was about 6 months off with my 4 bucks a gallon prediction. It'll hit 5 bucks soon.

Even more culpable - - for his inexplicably irresponsible act of leaving us in the hands of someone as overmatched (by pretty much everyone not named “Donald Trump”) as Grandpa Foobar.
Just my resentful two cents.
