OT Rice Alumni
My son is planning to visit on Spring Break the week of 3/23/22.
Who do we need to contact to arrange a tour, meet the Physics Department, possibly shadow a class?
He won't know his status until early April, but I need him to see the campus and see if he feels comfortable.
Rice offers a specific research field in astrophysics that he won't get at Kentucky, UAH, Oklahoma, Illinois or Illinois Tech.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'd begin by contacting the office of admissions. They coordinate all of the campus tours for prospective students that I know of. It's been a long time for me, but I'm confident they will still be able to direct you

I'm not a Rice alumni, but in that case I would contact the Physics department directly.

Congratulations if he can get accepted to Rice. Friends used to have a joke around the plants about Rice Grads. What do you call a Rice Grad? Boss

There would be no problem contacting the Physics department... and he's right... your interest in a specific field of physics would be an asset and advantage to admissions if you make it clear to the department... but still, you will want to coordinate it through admissions.
Rice is almost ridiculously competitive today and tens of thousands of student is 'qualified', but they just aren't different enough to get the nod... and his interest in a specific field COULD make that difference!!
Best wishes!

Lots of more 'up to date' people on there than I am.
Thanks Hambone. I put a thread on that board.
I have a feeling that he could do great things at Rice.

I sent my son some contacts at the Physics Department. Looks like a great program. Rice does research in very early formation of the universe and that is what was my son is interested.
