We had 9 apparently healthy players, of whom 2 (Green and Tinsley) didn't get much sit-down time, playing 32 and 31 minutes respectively. They were also the most productive, having 21 and 16 points. Kiki played 27 minutes, was face-guarded continuously, managed 13 points in spite of it, and fouled out. She also played like her back was hurting her, fell or was knocked down at least once and got up holding her back but went on anyway. (Did you see that, jmad?) Goodman also played 27 and didn't have her best game, to be fair. From where we sat, we could see her being elbowed and knocked around every which way, and she hasn't yet learned to give it back without getting caught. Carodine got 24 minutes in, but her usual hustle got her fouled out instead of the rebounds she generally has. Hazell? 24 minutes, 4 fouls, and couldn't get off a clear shot for being knocked around. Tynes had 14 minutes in, got gut-punched, and it didn't look like she ever really recovered from that. (I talked to her mom at halftime and she was mad as hell, also more than a bit concerned.) Williams had 6 minutes.

No Towson player had more than 4 fouls, despite 2 of them being T'd up and a couple of intentionals. You kind of have to question the refereeing there, but also they could shuffle a boatload of players in and out. Why their coach didn't get a T at one point is also beyond me. They play dirtier than Liberty.

What I think is that some people have expectations that maybe cannot be met, some people maybe are afflicted with Our Girl syndrome, and some people just like to bash the coach....any coach. I remember some people bashing Kenny. Let's see what happens after we've been in the Sun Belt for a bit. That will be a whole different scenario.

Hey, I understand that. I would like to think I am not one of those people. I have been in support of O'Regan during his entire tenure. I even had a chance to meet the guy at a football game and sat next to him. Such a good guy.
At the same time, I cannot help but feel like our admin at least needs to assess what he's done and doing with the team he is working with.
There are many things that are really hard to overlook, that's all. I just don't think he deserves a pass for being a good guy and/or having some bad luck with personnel.
As was mentioned before: he said he was embarrassed after the game. He certainly isn't coming up with excuses and I respect that.
I just want to make sure he's the right guy to lead this team into the Sun Belt transition. Unfortunately I am not sure if he is anymore or not.
And you can quote me on this: Even if this team loses every single game this season moving forward and retains O'Regan, I won't be angry. Concerned for the future of the program? Yes, but at the very least he deserves one last chance to make it right.

Sean will get a fair performance review in March. His contract is through the 2022-2023 season. I am sure the performance plan and expectations will be clearly laid out.

I feel like this season was just an aberration after the last one. When you look at how many players are standing around in sweats during warmups, you can't help feeling that way. I can't remember a year since I've been here when we've had that many out at once, or unable to play for some reason. Some seasons just have to be marked off with a big X. Let's try being patient and seeing what happens in the Sun Belt, shall we?

At the same time, let's be proud of the achievements of players like Maddie Green and Jaylin Carodine, who have pulled the team along through some tough times and will graduate without knowing some of the best ones, and Brianna Tinsley, who transferred here with high hopes and didn't get to achieve them all but has made valuable contributions to this team and isn't in the cellar over there at UVA. And Casey Irvine and Morgan Smith, who also came with high hopes but were permanently sidelined by injuries, yet were invaluable moral support from the bench.

04-jawdrop Am I reading that right? He has just one year left on his contract? If so, that’s tough to recruit when there’s no promise the HC won’t be there after your first year.

RE: WBB vs Towson 2/13/22
It was an interesting and frustrating game to watch on Sunday. As someone already said, it looked like Towson came to play and ready to win at all costs and we did not. Towson plays very aggressively, borderline dirty, but I remember a time when JMU was that aggressive. Anyone besides me old enough to remember the Meredith Alexis charges? There are women in the world today still hurting after running into her and landing on their butts. The fire seems to be very inconsistent from game to game and even player to player.

During the first half, Maddie could not miss from three point range. It seemed like during the second half JMU went away from a game plan to get her the ball at every possibility. Perhaps Towson made an adjustment and took away some of that spark, but the air pretty much went out of the tires when she was not handling the ball. To have 18 points in the first half and "only" 21 for the game shows that either JMU changed the game plan or Towson made a heck of an adjustment. I hope it is the latter and not the former.

I still support the team and always will, but there is just something missing. With the individual talent that this team has, it should have translated into more success than they have had.

They head to Drexel for a game tomorrow night. I hope we see the on fire Dukes and not the deer in the headlights Dukes.

Well, just for fun, look who DID get fired! https://uncwsports.com/news/2022/2/14/wo...ogram.aspx

Never had much use for the woman in the first place, after she almost single-handedly gutted ODU. And look who they left in charge..Tina Martin, FFS! The woman who couldn't coach at Delaware. I guess they want to stay in the CAA cellar. Sad.

Man that is surprising to have happened while the season is still going on. Wonder is something else besides coaching was the reason for her dismissal. Very strange.

Pep Band now gets to razz Tina one more time this weekend!!

I miss the blue rubber chicken the Pep Band used to dangle over the rail when Delaware came to town just to give Tina a fit. That and the "the 80's called and want their hair back" were always fun. Unfortunately the Band seems to have their hands tied over the last couple of years and have lost a lot of their uniqueness. I miss that....

I remember! I think that's what is most disappointing - I felt like win or lose we ALWAYS used to be the most conditioned team. Our defense and rebounding always kept us in game and let us compete with anyone we played. Kenny and Greg W had those areas covered. I want to say our rebounding margin was always near the top in the country. especially in the late 2000's, early 2010's.

We now play dribble drive AAU ball with players who do not match the skillset.
