MTSU (16-4, 8-2) plays the Lady Monarchs (17-5, 7-3) today in Norfolk at 6:30 PM. MTSU defeated UAB 75-55 on Saturday at home while ODU defeated FIU 73-61 Monday in their last game. MTSU is a very dangerous team with balanced scoring.

MTSU's expected starters are -

5'-6" S Saar, 12.7 points
6'-0" JR Whitson, 12.5 points
6'-6" F Boldeyreva, 6.1 points
5'-11" S Alexis Whittington, 7.8 points
5'-8" F Gregory, 10.7 points

6'0" Soph Malashka, 13.8 points leads the team in scoring and usually comes off the bench.

ODU scores the last 7 points of the quarter to end the 1st quarter in a 7-7 tie with MTSU.

Man I wish this were on ESPN+. I’d much rather watch this game than the mens.

For some good ODU basketball news, the Lady Monarchs lead MTSU 30-20 at halftime.

After three quarters of play, ODU leads 49-39.

ODU wins 58-56.

Big win at home!

Ladies win 58-56! Without looking at the game it looks like we almost blew it in the 4th quarter. Glad we held on.

Man look, I am worn out. Just got back home. What a great game. These young ladies are so much fun to watch. When they play "petals to the medal" defensively they are poetry in motion, and steals are the reward.

"Middle" is a very well drilled team and had a nice run in the 4th to tie the game, but the ladies were able to weather the storm and pull out the win.

Great Entertainment: We yelled at the horrible refs, teased the opposing coach for always complaining to them, and had a great time cheering our hearts out for the ladies. I hope those of you that are close will come on out to a game. They deserve our support, and will not disappoint.

Congrats to FR Kaylen Nelson for knocking down the 1st 3 pointer of her Career. It came in the 1st QTR to tie the game at 11 as time expired.

Once they start clicking consistently on the offensive end, this team will be in the NCAA Tournament again, and as a spoiled Fan that's been watching since the 80's, and an ODU Alumni (2017) I can't wait for that to happen.

Almost blew it at the FT line. Missing 5 of 6. Hung on.

What a game. Thought the lead ODU built through 3 quarters would evaporate late in the 4th period. But the team pulled it out. Haven’t seen such an exciting game in a long time. There were a couple of issues with the refs, but the team was able to overcome them. Many fans really got into this one. Even the our coach got excited….really excited a couple of times. Fun game to watch. Really happy for the players that they were able to win this one.

Anyone know what the administrative technical was about. I couldn’t figure that one out.

We had 6 players on the court and was called for the Tech. Someone didn't get off the court after the substitution before the ball was in play.

Was a big win for the Lady Monarchs. It took 3 defensive stops in the final seconds to get the win. Missing 5 out of 6 free throws down the stretch was hard on the nerves. Seems we play better with the defense dial up and going full court press.

We play so much better when trapping and pressing. I know we can't do it the entire game, but we MOSDEF play with more energy when we do, and as I have mentioned, steals are the reward.

I was always taught that when a team presses you and starts to get back, you press and trap them back. "Middle" was way to comfortable in that 4th QTR, if we trap them back, perhaps they don't make that run.

Yes, this is a rule, but to my recollection I have never seen it called in a game. It is a technical when one team has 6 players on the court during play. However, in this case one referee motioned an ODU player onto the floor about the same time another referee was handing the ball to a Middle Tenn player to inbounds, which she did. Usually, the referee who motions the player onto the floor blows the whistle and holds up his/her hand to signal a play stoppage until a player leaves the floor. That did not happen in this case. To me, it should have been a correctable administrative mistake and not an administrative technical against ODU. To me, the mistake was that the referees did not communicate well at that point and ODU was penalized for it.

That turned the momentum to Middle

That zone we didn’t handle very well, it got Middle back in the game
