We can all agree that this isn't something we wish on anyone.

US Senator Suffers Stroke
Cerebellar strokes have good recovery rates. I helped rehab many back in the day. Lots of proprioception relearning.

Depending on damage he will most likely make a full or close to full recovery but it takes weeks and months to achieve.

There are strokes and then there are STROKES, a good friend suffered a stroke and it took him over a year to regain motor function. It took him 2 years to recover enough to resume a normal life. I've known a couple of people who had massive strokes and died. I don't wish them on anyone.

Prayers for the senator.

I worked in rehab after graduating. Young people recover pretty fast. 49 year olds less quickly. He had a portion of his skull removed. I have a buddy that had one at about the same age. He looks normal, but is an emotional wreck now. Wife divorced him because he can't keep a job, drinks too much very depressed. Very traumatic when part of your brain dies. He will go to an inpatient rehab center first after discharge. Will have to re-learn some basic stuff first.

Sad to hear about his wife leaving him. "In sickness and in health... until death do us part" doesn't mean much to some people.

Hopefully she never has an issue that puts her next husband's vows to the test.

Definitely! And it is great to see how many good wishes & prayers there are in this thread from posters on the other side of the aisle from Senator Lujan, a testament to the fundamental decency of most of the people here. We all win when we can disagree without being disagreeable.

Glad that he's well, but I think he should stay home and recuperate for another 10 months.

Indeed; a stroke is serious. Hopefully he has a full recovery. Surely all of us feel this way.

Agreed…
The Hill is usually a good source.

It pissed me off they posted an article about Lujan’s stroke. Then instead of mentioning his health they go straight to worrying about the balance in the Senate.

Have we grown so callous as a Nation we can’t have empathy for our fellow man?

Sad days….
