My phone started picking up 5G the past few days as rhey test towers. No major airport nearby, but only 7 miles from a military airfield.

But they're bureaucrats. They don't think ahead. It's not in their DNA.
Remember, a bureaucrat's priorities, in order, are
1) my career,
2) my agency,
3) doing my job.
If it doesn't threaten 1) or 2), it's out of sight, out of mind.
