With the make-up games tonight, SFA, Lamar, Seattle and CBU are almost playing an NBA schedule with 5 games in 10 days.
Looking forward to GCU's second trip to Texas. Selfishly hoping both NMSU and GCU pull out victories to set up a showdown between the two teams on January 29th in Las Cruces. Go Aggies! Go Lopes!

Both NMSU and GCU have decent size and skill. In my mind, the only WAC team that matches up well against both programs is Utah Valley. SFA also has decent size but they lack big man depth coming off the bench. The other WAC programs are guard strong but mostly have serviceable undersized big men in the paint.

UVU will have a possessions issue with GCU and NMSU just like they did with ACU imo. They also allow their WAC opponents to shoot well from 3 in their L's as well. That bodes well for Aggies and Lopes.

Looks like SFA beats Lamar in a shootout... 86-78. The loss of Roti Ware really has taken the teeth out of the Lumberjacks defense.

SFA wasn't at full strength, but neither was Lamar. Lamar has had less than ten players available for the past month, so the fact that Lamar was ahead for much of the game shows that maybe they aren't as bad as the record looks. Number of players available also impacts what the team can do in practice. It looked to me like Lamar somewhat ran out of gas as their last made three-point shot was with 9:40 left in the game. I would suspect three-point shooting is the first thing that goes as players begin to get fatigued.

6 left in the first half at CBU. Seattle turning the ball over too much. CBU leading by 8.

Im sure fatigue is a factor in a game that looks like it was moving up and down the court a lot. But Lamar only had 4 second field goals versus Chicago State and it was a slower game, so overall shooting is an issue too, at least at times.

Lamar had two of their four guards that played tonight in their first action coming off of covid against CSU. Again, I take nothing away from CSU, just stating facts. Lamar played terrible. Roberts couldn't make a basket which is rare, but it happens. The guards that returned from last year's team try to do too much on their own and don't work the offense. Play from the post players is weak.

CJ Roberts is getting more playing time and making bigger impact for Lamar than he would have at NMSU. Roberts was an exciting player to watch but he was inconsistent offensively at NMSU. And, he was foul prone as he had a tendency to use his hands more than his feet to play defense.

Can someone tell me what the deal is with CBU’s arena? I can’t tell if there’s too much light or not enough.
SU up 82-74 2:15 left

Seattle U finally blew the game wide open. A double-digit lead in OT.

I'm not sold on Seattle being a great team or anything, and a lot of their wins have been against weak opponents, but they do keep winning. Am interested to see how they do down the stretch. Definitely a team to watch out for.

No one should get into a three-point contest with Seattle U. If left open, they can put up a lot of points. Tonight, they were 12-23 (52.2%) behind the arc.
