This is a dumb thread. Nobody at Tulane has even said it was a possibility

My other reason for renting a team for two or three years would be that after four years TCU tire of the MWC. If not, I think we should offer Duke. They would fit our conference much better than the ACC (sure they'd take a pay cut), and they voted against ACC expansion. Of course they'd miss basketball games with Maryland, UNC, but hey they'd get Houston and Memphis in the deal. What's not to like.
I just need to point out that this may be the most hilarious thing I have EVER read....
And hey, if the Duke thing doesn't work out...SURELY Kentucky would be interested....

don't forget notre dame...
and i agree - this is the dumbest thread i've ever wasted the time to read. it isn't the topic - the losses coming tulanes way are more than just athletics - they have a lot of re-building to do period.
the dumb part is the list of wishes of some of these fans:
1- fresno state???? what a stupid idea. ignoring the way they run their programs - the idea that fresno could make out with more money by joining ncusa for 3 extra minimum payouts bowls is beyond stupid. there is almost always nothing left over after expenses from low-end bowls (especially after traveling half way across the country as fresno would to any of the ncusa bowls) - and that gets divided between 12 teams. it's a pittance. it means nothing.
2 - duke???? too stupid to even comment on. and that's even if you believe he was kidding.
3 - wku, and other current i-aa's over current wac (la-tech) or sun belt schools (unt, la-lafayette, mtsu, etc). you argue that adding a lowly i-a program would be a death-knell (it isn't - it just takes time to pay off) and then in almost the next post - someone suggests you add a i-aa program.
4 - mac schools???? been asked before ncusa expanded to el paso and they turned it down for financial and other concerns. the ncusa conference is less appealling to the mac schools now than it was before bacause of the further expansion west and the lack-luster fb results and the future bowl insecurity.
if tulane does have to fold fb (and its at least a reasonable question financially) then the viable 12th team replacements are pretty much limited to unt, la-tech .... and then any other team in the sun belt you might be interested in. texas state, missouri state and wku are certainly possible - but take a longer term to pay off. there really are no other current i-a programs the ncusa could attract. it's not a slam - in the non-bcs, you have to be geographical to be viable. the sun belt and this one wac school (la-tech) are geographically viable - almost no one else fits.

Well, as long as ya'll are being realistic...I say, grab Notre Dame up too. I figure with ND, ya'll could make a grab to replace the Big Least as the low man on the BCS pole. Them or USC...they don't fit too well in the Pac-10, bein' in Cali and all.

Even if Tulane is dropped and LaTech or any other school(god forbid)is added There will be a spot in 2 or 3 years in CUSA again.Maybe Tulane will be in better financial shape and can field a team again in a few years.I know everybody doesnt want to see Tulane go but guys things are in bad shape down there right now. They are just trying to get the professors to stay on and get the students back in school.Athletics might not be the number one priority in the next couple of years. But maybe after they are back on their feet, who knows.

So...you don't like what one person wrote in describing their "opinion"...and you want that person fired?
What kind of person are you?
Nevermind....I think most of us know.

With the Saints and Hornets apparently leaving NO, Tulane will become NO's team by default. They ought to try and move mountains to get their program back in NO as soon as possible. I'd bet their attendance would increase just because there is less competition for the sports entertainment dollar. Of course they might have to spend a few $$$ on advertising and even perhaps subsidize some television games on local channels not covered by CSTV, just to hook the fan. Adding Rice into the discussion is wierd. They've played football for 80 years and they aren't going anywhere and neither is SMU. We may stink right now, but we expect that to change. I think Tulane getting back onto the field in NO would do a lot for that city.
