It's not going to happen according to folks I speak with and know some stuff sometimes. UCLA holding it until the last moment really screwed us and the bowl. It's also soured a few folks on the so-called "Alliance" and the degree to which you can actually trust a big chunk of the P12 related to football.

So low class.
That is ridiculous. The players and the coaches don't get to make the decision. The medical professionals at UCLA make the recommendation and the UCLA AD has to follow their recommendation. No one is happy with the decision. The fans, players, coaches and alumni are all disappointed. I agree with North Carolina State head coach Dave Doeren, who said, "I don’t feel like it was very well handled from their university." With every other sporting event being canceled at UCLA, they had to know a week ago that this was not going to happen based on the UCLA Covid protocols. If the players are running around San Diego at different events, then they should be able to play in the game.

RE: Holiday bites the dust
I am tired of the whining and complaining from the side of Team X in a bowl game when that game is canceled because of virus issues with Team Y. We are seeing this almost every time a game is canceled.
The Team Y suffers just as much as Team X. Their fans don't get to see the game either, their fans that traveled and spent money on tickets and hotels and transport have to try and recoup that too, their players don't get to play in the game too. And additionally, they also have to deal with these covid-19 cases.
If anything, the Team Y community deserves more sympathy.
Bottom line to me is, everyone knows that the virus is still out there, and that therefore a game can be canceled at any time. If you make plans as either a player or a fan to attend or play in a bowl game, you have to know this can happen. So acting like you are in shock because it has is, IMO, just hard to explain.

Big difference between a 2-3 hour drive and flying cross country for your fanbase, though.

Right, which is why I would be very hesitant to make plans to attend a bowl game across the country than one close to home.

Especially against a Pac-12 school.

If you can use Covid to avoid an ass whippin' or to beat your opponent, a smart coach uses it. In the span of a two years we've seen Duke, Vanderbilt, and now UCLA do just that - force an end to a contest using nothing more than a 60% accurate test.

Covid is the excuse. The real reason, if you peel back the onion a bit, is bad matchups with poor ticket sales.
Some intrepid 'journalist' (if those exist anymore) would look into this.
