11% Increase in Apps for Fall 2022
Flutie Effect, per Fox19:

11% increase at UC in applications submitted for fall semester 2022 according to Jack Miner, VP of Enrollment Management.
As for students visiting for campus tours, UC is seeing its largest attendance in years @FOX19

When we have some applicant comparisons available with Ohio's other public universities, it may become even more difficult to deny that the greatest season in UC football history provided causation for growth in student enrollment.

It's probably safe to say we as UC alumni and fans have never experienced anything quite like this before. 1992 was very special with a return to the Final Four but this year seems to have engaged our region much more broadly, especially when you roll in the Big XII announcement and mission improbable occurring in South Bend.

Yep. The other publics, with the exception of Ohio State, are struggling mightily with enrollment. While the 11% increase is impressive this year, I suspect we'll see something similar next as the current juniors are starting to determine where they'll apply.

I will add some context...application numbers are not the be all, end all, but I know that Toledo and Bowling Green are both at around 10% increases in applications and Akron is at just under 7% based on the last few conversations I've had with people in roles at those institutions. Covid really killed a lot of people choosing to leave heir home areas for school, but I think that phase is over now.

I think where you'll see the difference is end of cycle enrollment...specifically out of state.

I find the increase in campus tours the most interesting. From personal experience, if you are investing the time for a campus tour, the school is at or near the top of your list.

Yeah, I think we are going to see a lot of apps coming in after the New Year. March 1 is the Rolling Admission Deadline for Fall 2022. Not that they are going to enroll here, but I suspect UC will see applications from students from places they have never seen before after the college football playoffs.

RE: 11% Increase in Apps for Fall 2022
Not sure the plans/goals for expanding freshman enrollment but 11% means we can continue to lower our acceptance rate and improve average test scores for the freshman class which should help in the national rankings. I'm sure the success of our football program and the raised national awareness of the school in general from the sports media outlets has contributed significantly to the uptick in applications. All the more reason to continue investing in the football program and sign Luke Fickell to a massive extension.

If Toledo and Bowling Green are at 10% then 11% at UC does feel all that special.

Those schools are coming off a decline in enrollment; UC had an increase.

Yeah, that's the added perspective...Growth Percentage in a nutshell isn't a great barometer of enrollment health, I'm more interested in the end of the cycle numbers and how they are affected.

RE: 11% Increase in Apps for Fall 2022
I think a true evaluation of any kind of flutie effect will need three years to show itself. Now I'm a firm believer that our football success is going to have zero influence in pulling some 30+ ACT kids away from OSU, but as I stated earlier, I do think it can be managed in a way that we lower our acceptance rate dramatically which will improve our class profile to a noticable degree. Both of those factors should give us a bump in the USNWR rankings.

Of course the administration could choose to use a surge in applicants to simply grow enrollment and take in the extra cash. I hope they don't because we're not cash-starved, and we do need to boost our admissions profile and close in on Miami in that regard.

I also wonder if the surge in applicants for other state schools is a result of OSU trimming their freshman classes back post-covid.
