Dabo Swinney to NFL Raiders?

https://raiderswire.usatoday.com/2021/12...teresting/

Quote:... Just as important, could he be interested in becoming the Raiders head coach? If him donning Raiders gear on the sideline during a game isn’t enough to make you wonder, his constant facetiming with Derek Carr certainly would.

“Dabo Swinney literally has FaceTimed me or texted me more than like my coaches that I played with in college. I promise,” Carr said on the Harvester sports podcast last month. “This man FaceTimed me the other day, and it wasn’t even anything about Hunter. He’s like, ‘Hey man, keep it going. Man, so proud of you. I’m so fired up.’ I’m like, ‘Dude, you’re getting me fired up.’”

Definitely an interesting conversation. One the Raiders are clearly leaning into.

That would be something.

The Raiders operate in that way more than most NFL teams --- splashy name hires.

I can't see Dabo in the NFL. But maybe ...

Maybe Brent Vennables left too early. I'm sure he would have been first choice to replace Dabo.

I wonder if they'd give the job to Tony Elliot. Clearly he should hold off on the Duke and UVA jobs a little while.

Dabo will replace Saban at Alabama when they "Wheel" him out the door though Saban appears to be a Bowden / Paterno "LIFER" there at this time. 04-jawdrop 04-jawdrop 03-zzz 03-zzz 03-zzz 04-rock 04-cheers

Las Vegas Raiders are a decent team and have lots of money. Las Vegas is a fun city and he would not be under pressure like at Clemson. The managing partner Mark Davis of the Raiders seems like a decent guy and will not be quick to fire coaches.

I'm not so sure about that. Seem to me they leaked John Gruden's emails so they could fire him with cause and not have to pay the rest of his contract. What was he there, 3 years?

I'd say the NFL is way more stressful. An NFL team is roughly a $1 billion business. You have to deal with owners, investors, agents, diva players. The NFL expects instant success. You don't get 3+ years to build a team.
