Bullcrap. 1:07 to go 77 yards with no time outs. UTSA won that game. UAB was hanging on for dear life. They didn’t hand them anything.

UAB wins that game if their coach has the nuts to move the ball 2 inches. They kicked it away and put the game in the hands of UTSA.

I doubt there’s a coach in our conference that goes for it on 4th down on the road in that situation and hand the ball over on the wrong side of the 50. I know how easy it is to be a message board coach and make that call but Clark is no newbie. He put it in his Dee’s hands and UTSA made many special plays on that drive including the tipped game winner.

Any coach that understands analytics would have. What percentage of runs by UAB were for negative yards in the game? What is the difference in touchdown percentage with a UAB opponent starting at their own 25 versus your 45? You had about an 80% chance of winning if you punted, you had about a 65% chance of winning if you went for it and were stopped and you had a 99.99% chance of winning if you went and got it.

You are playing an undefeated, ranked team on the road. A team you have to beat. You go for it.

Our staff is holding us back at this point.

UTSA is really freaking good. Uab played really well tonight (outside of the penalties which are also on the staff) and y’all beat us straight up.

UAB should erect a freaking statue to Bill Clark. Dude hung around a defunct program for several years when he clearly had better offers to lead your school to several division titles and conference titles. Clark IS UAB football at this point.

MEGA-ditto on that one, dude...

...for perspective...

from 2002 (first 12-game season) to 2013, UAB's BEST overall record was 7-5.

IF we lose to UTEP, this season's regular-season record will be 7-5, which will be the WORST record we've had percentage-wise since the 2017 Return... (BC went 6-6 in his first year, 2014, coming off of UAB's worst season EVER (2-10)).

EVERY BC-coached UAB team has been bowl eligible.

With that, we still bellyache... it's the nature of fans, sadly enough... ...but just start a rumor Clark may be looking elsewhere, and Blazers will be jumping all over the place up in here... 01-lauramac201-lauramac201-lauramac201-lauramac201-lauramac2 03-lmfao

I don’t think many fans will deny that Bill Clark is a UAB legend, and the godfather of UAB football… but we’ve hit our ceiling with him. Every year, it’ll be 8-9 wins, with no meaningful OOC results, with conference championships sprinkled in there every couple years, not to mention playing uber-conservative and be top in the nation in penalties. We’re never taking that next step with this coaching staff around. But some fans are just content with “Hey, at least we have a team now.” The goal should be to get better every year. Do I need to remind Blazer fans that this was supposed to be the best UAB team ever? That’s incredibly laughable now.

Also, good game and congrats to the meepers. You guys deserved it. Your coaches wanted to win, instead of not lose. Our staff could learn a thing or two from them.

Sounding a little like you're about to go the path of Jeff Bower. Ask USM how that's going. Clark made fearful move and lost it. He's gotta work on the penalties and improving the offense and not putting it all on the defense and it showed tonight. Other than that, the ceiling and OOC talk is out of immediate frustration.
As paying fans we have every right to be critical at times, but let's not get melodramatic.

Fun ending to watch. I thought Clark should've gone for the 1st down instead of punting the ball considering UAB's defense isn't as good as it has been in previous years.

They got Larry Fedora, who took them to pretty good heights. It was after that that they messed up.

But hey, if you’re afraid to take risks, then Clark is the guy for you. Just don’t be complaining when there’s only 15k (on a good day) in Protective Stadium because he’s not pulling in any new fans/donors.

Also, how long have we been saying “he needs to work on the penalties”? And what’s our best OOC win under Clark? Tulane? Is that where we want the bar to permanently be?

Great game UAB. One of us was going to be crushed after last night's game. It was looking like us for most of the game. Tons of respect for your team and program. Best of luck the rest of the season.

Wanted to say congratulations to a program that has had my respect from day one. We share a lot in common and battle some of the same issues.

It is an honor to be going into the AAC with you guys. SA is a great town and great people and if you have not been it’s a must.

Love and respect.

We are beating your ass next season. ;-)

If meaningful ooc results are beating top ten sec teams on the road, let me know what coach in the country will do that? The best UAB team ever was on paper. In case you didn’t notice, our secondary was destroyed this year, and we don’t have the same qb we started the year with. But, have the attitude you want to about all that I guess.

I am as frustrated as any fan after the loss yesterday, but we have been in the CCG the past three years. What more do you guys want?

This. I don't think some of our fan base realizes, (or maybe just ignores) how badly we have been beat up this year. Not an excuse, just fact. We went toe to toe with the 15th ranked team in the country in front of a loud and rowdy crowd and were a play a way in several points in the game from winning. We have to stop letting the SEC fan poisonous attitude take over.

I'm frustrated too but no since in throwing out the baby with the bath water. Suck it up and beat UTEP. Lets finish strong. Let's represent these folks in a bowl game and win one for everybody.

Personally, I can't wait to see the CUSA CG be played in San Antonio in front of a sellout raucous crowd, the atmosphere a CG should be played in.
