RE: WAC MBB Week #2
Six games in nine days is rough for any college team. GCU will get tested on Monday when they play Wyoming. Wyoming plays at Washington tomorrow night so we will be able to gage the Cowboy's strength leading into the Lopes game. GCU will meet a good big man in Wyoming's Graham Ike (6'9, 252-lbs, Soph). Currently he is averaging 21.5 ppg and 6.5 rpg through his first two games.

Utah Valley is in another overtime game. UVU hit a deuce with 4 seconds to put the game into overtime 68-68. Aimaq is a beast. He has 21 point and 14 rebounds currently.

Utah Valley did it again. They win in overtime at Long Beach State 84-78. Fardaws Aimaq finished with 25 point, 16 rebounds, and 3 block shots. The Wolverines are a tough out if they keep it close. Their main Achilles heel is turnovers. They had 20 tonight; and 75 turnover over their first four games. Once they get Trey Woodbury back, UVU will be a championship contender. He was their primary ball handler before he went down the injury.
Unless NMSU does something special in Myrtle Beach, Fardaws Aimaq is a shoe in to be selected WAC Player of the Week; in two games he averaged 29.5 ppg and 15 rpg.

Teddy is going to pop off a huge game one of these days, but I feel the committee is going to be looking for anyone other than Aimaq to give POW honors to this year sometimes. His stats are likely going to be something else this year.
And when they get a full squad, I don't think they will end up 4th in the WAC as they were predicted.

RE: WAC MBB Week #2
Hunter Schofield from Dixie is a much, much improved player this year. And that's on top of a big improvement during the season last year. Keep in mind, he first played for Dixie as a D2 player. Before Dixie, at Salt Lake CC, he wasn't a big scorer, so this part of his game is really just now blooming.
Against SUU, he had 29 points in 27 minutes. Toward the end of the season last year, he had a career high 31 against UVU, so this is one of his highest scoring games. I expect we'll see him top 25 a number of more times this year.
Fun to watch players develop. Judkins is a great player development coach too.

Here is Blaze Nield's shot that tied the score and put the UVU/LBSU game into overtime.

Go Aggies! A win over Davidson should place you in the top 100 for RPI. The higher up you go, the better it is for the WAC and for any WAC team that can defeat you during conference play.

Totally agree. This was not an impressive win. Prairie View A&M had to have tired legs after all those games and the traveling.
Impressive no but GCU did do what they needed to do to a team that has played as many games in almost as many nights. That is a sign of a good team with good coaching getting the job done.

As group the WAC won two Wednesday and lost one and NMSU won the early game on Thursday with two west coast games this evening. I think the conference will take at least winning two of three on average for the non-con.

RE: WAC MBB Week #2
At this point, really the only stat working against NMSU right now is turnover margin. Through three games NMSU has committed 40 turnovers while generating only 25 turnovers by their opponent. For the first time this season, Jabari Rice looked like a point guard; 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists is a very good stat line given our opponent. Davidson is no fluff team.

To all the fanbases other than NMSU: basketball season has arrived. The Aggie posters are out in full force. I apologize in advance for all the NMSU posts to tell you all how good we are (we are VERY good). It's only gonna get worse. You were warned...

RE: WAC MBB Week #2
My post was more a critique of where NMSU could improve; not a chest thumping we are great post. Up until this point, I wasn't sold on Rice being our starting point guard. Today, he played well in that role. It will be a work in progress but given that Teddy Bucket does his best work starting his offense above the arc and driving down hill from there, I can see why Jans has put Allen at the two and moved Rice to the point. Tillman has also settled in well at the small forward/wing position.

Pistol, I wasn’t calling you or any other Aggie fan out. Heck, I chimed in. I’m just stating a fact. NMSU posters dominate the WAC boards and we all come out during basketball season. We are insufferable when the Aggies are rolling.
Btw, I said Rice would start the season at PG and no one agreed. I was ridiculed. But like Toder and David Street with all of their hair brained predictions, I was right.

That's true. We outscored them by 21 after going down 10. This team could be very good if we can play a full 40 minute game.

Fair warning, my man. We can be a rowdy bunch haha.

RE: WAC MBB Week #2
I've watched a few WAC games. UVU appears to be legit. And they'll only get better once they get Trey Woodbury back. GCU is very talented and getting better each game. And, CBU is raining threes and have a pretty good big man in Daniel Akin. Also, Abilene Christian looks to be very tough; and they haven't missed a beat despite the coaching change. Even though NMSU looked good today (for the most part), the WAC is no cakewalk.

Great win Aggies! Definitely the team to beat in the WAC (except for perhaps Tarleton ).
Rice played excellent and was a very efficient 8-12 shooting (FG + 3-Pts). At least for this game, he seems to be the Aggies MVP and not Teddy 'Buckets' Allen who had to hoist 29 shots to get his 20 points. A 34% shooting percentage (10-29) does not seem that good. Did he have a low shooting percentage at Nebraska as well?[/i]
