Trust me, Minny is horrible. Will be lucky to win 10 games. WKU has looked horrendous to start season. We played well 10 out of 40 min first game vs Bama State looked terrible the prior 30 min. We were horrible vs Minnesota for 30 min. Last 10 min we had one guy, McKnight take over. Other than that we have a long way to go..
I agree about Minnesota. That is not a good basketball team. They’ll be last in the Big 10. A team with a pulse would have beaten the Tops by 15+ the other night.
Disagree about WKU. We’ll likely turn around and beat South Carolina tomorrow (also not a good team). And will most certainly win more than 10 games. We knew all long this team was going to start slow. Too many new faces to put together to come out of the gates firing. Come January not many people will look forward to seeing the Tops roll into town. Too many good pieces. Have some patience before you jump off the ledge.
.
Absolutely, Zion Harmon and Keith Williams have yet to play and we have Cam Justice as a solid senior back up guard who is now eligible . Came back down 16 to Minnesota and has a shot to go ahead despite a woeful first half. We will win more than 10 games for sure.
I think the 10 game quote was directed at Minnesota and could very well be accurate for them.
.
If that's the case, that has some merit to it. I think they have all their pieces right now too.

RE: Week 1 CUSA Basketball Power Rankings
Anyone that doesn't have Marshall near the top is ignoring the Wright State win.
As sad as this sounds, it's the best win in week 1 for CUSA.
And it was a Marshall 8 point victory.
Andrew Taylor has established himself as the distributor we lacked. This Marshall team looks a lot different from our 2018 squad. Not sure if it can stack up. But this 2021 version has size, length and depth at forward. Our one weakness is probably guard depth.

I don't see UNT as a threat right now. Western and UAB look tough, Marshall looks impressive. The rest are kind of floating.
WKU had to come back to barely beat Alabama State and lost to Minnesota. They've had some players out and may be good come conference play, but they do not look tough right now.
I suspect Minnesota will be a top 75 NET type team, and for Western to lose by 4 is a good showing.

I was talking about Minnesota not WKU. I said we are bad now, I would hope we improve..

RE: Week 1 CUSA Basketball Power Rankings
UAB looks really good early but the competition hasn't been great. South Carolina on Thursday should be a decent test. They held off an undermanned WKU tonight but lost to Princeton. Right now I'd put them in the upper tier with WKU, UNT, Marshall, and LA Tech. UTEP and Rice should also be improved.
As for the future, I think New Mexico St returns to form this season. They will instantly be one of the best bball teams in the new conference. As a basketball first fan, I really like the future of CUSA.

RE: Week 1 CUSA Basketball Power Rankings
Yeah, I would have to agree with a couple of the other posters. CUSA 4.0 looks to be a very strong basketball league. They will still have a large portion of the good teams, and add a few other really nice ones.
I have to admit, I'm shocked at how poorly Western has looked since I puffed them up.

UAB certainly looks to be the class of the conference right now.

Well, I don't know. Forcing 20 turnovers against D1 competition is a good sign.

Any plans of posting a Week 2 Power Ranking? I'm interested to see if any opinions have changed.
