What a start! WKU glides down the field, but in the red zone, Zappe drops the snap, panics and tosses a soft pass into the end zone short of his receiver and it's picked! HooRAY!!!

Rice moves down the field, too, mixing passes with runs. On 3rd & long, Constantine fires a dart to Pitre inside the 10, but he's stripped of the ball when he turned to run after the catch and the 'Toppers recovered at the 3. ARRRGH!!

No surprise, WKU again glides down the field, including a spectacular diving catch down the right sideline. A short run gets their first TD.

0-7 ... 2:56 left in 1Q.

No mistakes by WKU on their 2nd drive. 97 yards. 7-0 WKU. On both WKU drives, the Owl defense presented no problems for WKU. It’s going to be a very long day for the defense unless they figure out how to het some pressure on the QB. 164 yards offense for WKU on 1st 2 drives.

Zappe's 10-11-1. None of his passes have hit the ground.

WKU has gone essentially the length of the field twice in 5:34. Owls have done it once in 6:35.

Seems the idea today is to play as soft coverage as necessary not to give up a long TD after letting a receiver get by. Rice actually ran a prevent formation on WKU’s first two possessions.

Owls have 4th & 3 at the WKU 45 coming up as their first play of 2Q.

Short pass tipped by a WKU rusher and falls incomplete. Sigh. WKU takes over. Fasten your seatbelts.

On 2nd & 7, Zappe had all day ... but when he finally threw downfield, it was a little too high & wide for his receiver.

Then on 3rd down, his bullet over the middle was just out of reach of his receiver, who was very closely defended. WooHOO!!

3 & out for Rice. Run lost 2; good run gained 7, then pass to left sideline not in the same ZIP code as receiver Patterson.

WKU appeared to be using Bloomgren's playbook -- mostly runs, except for a long pass for which PI was called on Fresch.

But then a wide-open look-right/pass-left seam-route completion for WKU's second TD. Sigh.

I wonder if our OL could block better if we gave them jerseys that fit. ?

That was an ugly series..... the OL has to handle a 3 man rush.

Question: Our head coach is an OL expert, how is it that our OL is not able to handle a twist stunt from a 3 man rush?

Owls' offense goes nowhere, capped with a 3rd down sack. Grrr.

Because our o-linemen aren't the kind of o-linemen that our coach can coach.
