That’s a shame. They might think they’re in a UGA situation where they can get rid of a good coach and land a better one, but there’s a decent chance that they’re more like FSU. Or GaTech. Or a hundred other schools that take a step (or more) backwards by changing coaches after a bad year.

Of course, if it’s his call and he just doesn’t have the heart to continue, I can’t say I blame him. Hard to be a coach in the Internet Age where everyone can second guess you in real time. Either way, I hope things turn out positively for him - he’s an actual good guy.

It's not because of one bad year. It's because we've been embarrassed in the playoffs every single year when we have to play a team that gives out scholarships. Big fish in a small pond in the OVC.

You do not want this guy as an OC at UAB. He has four plays. He has trouble getting 11 guys on the field. False starts and offsides on every series.

It sounds like he'd fit right in with what Clark has going on!!!

Well I think that Clark taught Grass everything he knew. They both have personal fouls this year.

I would think most FCS teams would be happy having a chance in the playoffs and the coach would get a raise. I went to the playoff game against Delaware and it was not the coaching that lost the playoff game. That darn Quarterback was on fire. His placement of the ball on throws was the best I think I have seen while attending a game. they could have beaten nearly all FBS schools on that given day.

Bout to lose the only retainable worthy guy on our staff? will say I wouldn’t want to lose Tatum or Shrader either. Defensive staff isn’t what I want to get rid of.
_____
Chris Vannini
A notable coaching job opened yesterday.

Jacksonville State head coach John Grass stepped down. One of the better jobs in FCS, and Jax State is moving up to FBS and C-USA in a few years.

UAB DC David Reeves could be a name to watch. Former JSU asst.

Is this the same coordinator responsible for the undisiplined defensive unit? Color me confused.

The actual guy responsible for 2 out of the last 3 conference USA championships.

Was there somebody else on our staff being voted as one of the top assistants in the country?

Why would Reeves catch the flack for discipline issues when it’s Clark who’s supposed to hold him or the players accountable? Clarks the one getting $1.5-$1.7 mil a year.
