In my time as a Tribe fan (since I got here in 1997), I've often gravitated to the impactful D-Linemen to root for.

One of the key players during my shift from a fan to a mega fan was during the 2008 and 2009 runs. So, of course, Adrian Tracy is one of my favorite Tribe Players of all time.

It was noted in the broadcast this weekend so I checked the stats:

Single-Season Sack Record at W&M:

1a. 12, Adrian Tracy, 2009
1b. 12, Luke Cullinane, 1996
3. 11.5 Mike Reilly, 2013
4. 11 Mike Reilly, 2014
5a. 10, Adrian Tracy, 2008
5b. 10 (SO FAR!), Nate Lynn, 2021


Three games left and Nate is already top 5.

For those curious, the career record is 31 (Adrian Tracy). I believe Nate has two years of eligibility after this year, so we'll see if in his senior season we're discussing that record as well. From my digging I don't believe Nate had any sacks in 2019 or spring 2021.

Hmm, I think he has 3 years of eligibility after this season because of the covid year waiver. Someone will need to fact check that.

If I recall, those numbers may have included post season games also. Lynn is getting them in bunches too.

I believe the Covid year is why he has 2 years left, since he's a junior this year.

2019 - Freshman year (was not a redshirt, so 1 year of eligibility used)

Spring 2021 - Covid Sophomore year, no years of eligibility used

Fall 2021 - Junior year, 2nd year of eligibility used.

This is the logic I used to come to two years of eligibility left. I'm not 100% confident in it, but fairly confident.

Yeah, I should have said three years of regular season games remaining. Post season certainly helps to build on these stats.

Also, Mike Reilly came soooooo close in two different years.

Nate also missed a game this season where he would have most certainly gotten a sack. Elon’s line was awful and all they did that game was throw.
