Monday Musings
After an instant classic in East Lansing Paul Bunyan stays in the outskirts of the capital. Optimism grows amongst the B1G ten in-state teams that the evil empire can be taken down at the end of the year... oh wait wrong forum
Good to see Western Kentucky and MTSU getting MAC considerations. Someone had an idea of the hills&lakes divisions and I liked that one. Just don't move the MAC title game to Cincy in December please.
Toledo, a team we wish we were and a team that looks down on us hope we can eek out a win in glass bowl on a cold Tuesday made for tv night.
Speaking of made for TV nights There will be 40 Bowl games this year. 39 or FBS teams meaning 78 teams will go bowling out of 130 FBS teams. The games are great exposure for schools, coaches, players and programs but appear to be more and more of a participation trophy.
Excited to see the all whites on national TV although I would like the mitten helmet with the feather to make a cameo.

Toledo looks down on Toledo. I think you'd be surprised
to see the high regard Rocket fans have for Coach C.

Gosh dammit! I brought a friend to golf at Eagle Crest and they are selling golf hats with the script E and he mentioned how great they looked. I was distressed.

The Block E is trademarked like the Block M at Michigan and is intended to be the "mascot" for sports at EMU much like at U-M. The Huron nickname removal has been a sore spot for years, in fact the Facebook group "EMU's Nickname Will ALWAYS Be The Hurons" has 850 members! The Block E trademark was Prez Martin's attempt at undoing Shelton's premature and unthought out actions.

I love the script E and I came to EMU for its baseball program. That said, I think the script E should remain exclusive to baseball as the yellow shorts are to track and field.

Looks like Rob Murphy has assembled a strong G-League team with Saben Lee, Luke Garza, etc.

LOL Lucky! That is spot on.

Rob is a smart guy and honestly he is very well placed in his current position. He could identify talent as his current job requires. Hopefully coach Bakker can do what Rob could not, make those players better!

I just love the fact that the NBA has stepped up and provided another career path for young athletes with the G-League. MLB and the NHL have been operating minor leagues for years while the NBA and NFL have depended on the NCAA to do it for them for free.

Definitely, the NFL keeps getting a pass on the NCAA free labor issue. Hell, the NFL didn't even pay taxes until 5 years ago.

NFL needs to have a minor league.

I agree - but it costs too much to pay all those players

Update on Ty Groce:

Butler 3-0 but hasn’t played anyone
Ty played in 2 of 3 games and scored 3 & 8 points respectively.

Hope it works out for him because he would be our starting PF

Farrakhan - Pg
Monty - SG
Golson - SF
Groce - PF
Okongo - C
