Yeah. 4-4 MT is as bad as 1-7 So Miss…

Not really. We're just a .500 club as usual. A 25 to 32 point victory or whatever comes out to be disavows this notion. MT is much less mistake prone than USM. Usually that's the difference between decent and bad teams at the collegiate level.

Shhh… don’t tell Noodles that. In his mind, we are on the same level. Has So Miss ever beat MT in football?

No, they have not.

Wow, according to their fans they’re better than every single CUSA program and too prestigious to share a conference with us. Imagine that from 1-7 Southern Miss.

It comes from being a charter member of the league. Once upon a time, Southern Miss. was actually decent up until their peak in 1999-2000. Then, the southeast became crowded with non-Power Conference schools. In fact, if you look at the future Sun Belt's 14-team all-sport members, only Marshall, UL-Monroe, UL-Lafayette, and Southern Miss had Division 1-A football teams 20 years ago.

Cool, but it’s 2021 and Southern Miss was left behind by old CUSA schools for a reason. It doesn’t matter who you think you are, you shouldn’t be trashing teams if your team is 1-7.

I agree. The days of glory are gone. CUSA isn't the same league Southern Miss joined, and now they just want out.

I apologize for another day of horrific football from my school. Multiple years of awful administration hiring awful coaches and loving whore games has led to this. I don’t know if we will ever recover, but I still support my teams.

Oh, add Arkansas State to that list. I forgot about them.

Playing with SWAC talent. Our previous coach was not a good recruiter.

WKU will tear us up but we should be ok for ODU and FIU (both home games) The D will be formidable vs. them. Then it's 6-6 for the season. A bit better than 1-7.

Oh, to just be on the #3 QB.

Southern Miss has now had 7, yes 7, QBs take snaps during the season and 6 have thrown a pass. The initial starter, Trey Lowe, was lost on a kneel down play (OL stepped on his foot and broke it) on the last play of the 1st half of game 2.

The next guy up, Ty Keyes, was a highly regarded athletic true freshman with a good arm. He wasn't ready to play, but was showing some progress. He was injured on the first offensive series of a game at Rice and is done for the season. That was his 4th game, so he can be redshirted.

The player that would have been the #3 QB (Jack Walker) had a hand injury in spring that hasn't healed and he cannot throw the ball. He has taken a few goalline snaps, but is the only one of the 7 that hasn't thrown a pass.

The current starter (walk-on freshman Jake Lange) moved from scout team to #2 the week of the Rice game and was thrown to the wolves. He was the #5 or 6 QB in preseason and is just on the team because he wants to be a coach and never thought he would play a meaningful down. He is extremely slow and has a weak arm. He tries, but would not play at a MS juco.

The current backup is a freshman transfer (Tee Webb) from Louisville. He has been a huge disappointment.

Another true freshman (Chandler Pittman) got some snaps at QB vs UAB. He was a high school QB that had been playing the slot WR position and getting better and better out of the slot. He ran the wildcat vs UAB and put together a decent drive before a personal foul penalty brought it to a halt. He tore his ACL on that series and is done for the year.

The current #3 QB, who got in at the end vs MTSU, was a student assistant coach that was recently bumped onto the team to have a #3 QB on the roster.
