You guys whipped us good, so I'm not throwing shade...what was your coach's offensive gameplan?

They only gameplan Memphis. Nothing to see here.

Zero.
Don't need em.

We've had 2 wins (at least) in the Johnson-Niumatalolo era with zero pass attempts

True, there used to be an inverse relationship between our passing yards in a game and likelihood of winning. I have not checked recently but probably still the case.

I would expect a good analysis would show a strong correlation between winning and 10-15 attempts / 120-180 passing yards.
With those numbers, it means the offense is working and weretaking big passing chunks when the opponent cheats up to stop the run.
More attempts / more yardage probably correlates to losimg but being out of the offense and passing to catch up. Outliers there would probably be in yardage - wins that included two or more big pass plays (because the offense is working) - but less likely we have wins with high number of attempts.

Lower pass attempts / yardage will include Ws like today and the two I cited, but will also include Ls with a lt of sacks.

You guys just had so many big plays.
Your rpo was very effective. Different challenge, different defensive gameplan.

Congrats to Navy (our American Conference football brother)! The crowd looked pretty small. Maybe they should consider playing the Tulsa-Navy football game in Wichita.

I think it did, it's just that despite Tulsa beating Memphis, Memphis is a better team. Tulsa is one of the biggest disappointments of the year.

No need to pass a lot with that highly effective rushing attack. I was sitting in the Liberty Bowl a few weeks ago watching that incredible opening 21 play drive that ate up about 13 minutes of game clock. Unreal in its efficiency; I think the longest run was about 8 yards. Most were 3-5 yards.

My buddy was in disbelief. I told him "you do understand the pressure this puts on the MEMPHIS offense? We MUST score on every possession just to keep even. Plus our drives are 2-3 minutes at most; so our defense will get minimal rest."

I've watched Navy do the same thing to most AAC opponents - just not 21 plays!!

Anyway, good win for Navy.

More details from this week's game notes from our SID:

Navy defeated Tulsa last Friday night without completing a pass (0-4). It was the seventh time in the Niumatalolo era and the first time since 2018 against UCF that Navy has gone an entire game without completing a pass. Not completing a pass in a game is not necessarily a bad thing for the Mids, as they are 6-1 under Niumatalolo in games they don’t complete a pass. In two of those games, 2009 vs. Wake Forest and 2008 against SMU, the Mids never attempted a pass. Both of those games were played in torrential downpours with Navy beating Wake Forest 13-10 and SMU 34-7. In 2017 Malcolm Perry was 0/1 (an INT) but he ran for 282 as Navy beat SMU 43-40; in the Military Bowl vs UVA, Zach Abey was 0/1, but he scored 5 rushing TDs (and Malcolm Perry added 2 rush TDs from the slotback position) as Navy won 49-7. In 2011 Kriss Proctor was 0/2 (1 INT) in a 24-17 win over SMU.

If I remember correctly...you were there in person for one of Navy's 0 passing yard wins, quo!

The Tulsa band reportedly played the Navy alma mater (Navy Blue & Gold) postgame.
A very classy act of sportsmanship from a fine, kindred academic institution.
This is what builds longstanding friendly conference rivalries.
