RE: ***Game Thread*** Children's Harbor/Rice/Homecoming
Rice’s Wiley Green is CUSA’s Offensive Player of the Week…
Looks like their DB also received DPotW

14-6 as a starter. 3 losses to P5 opponents. Two to top 25 caliber G5 opponents, and a 9-4 WKU. 2-1 in conference title games. Wasn’t healthy vs FAU, due to taking a beating at UT, in which we didn’t properly prepare for.
He ain’t the problem. OC, HS staff, Inability to recruit is.
If TJ3 is healthy, let’s take our chances with him in the toughest 4 game stretch we’ve had in CUSA since The Return.
Let me clean that up a little bit.
TJ3:
14-7 as a starter
2 time champ
1-1 in bowl game
0-4 vs P5, as expected. Hurt in 2 of those. UT and UGA. Shouldnt have played vs MIA if he was injured in preseason Jet ski accident.
G5 Losses- App State(top 25 team), FAU(outmanned and outcoached in every facet), WKU(worst game of his career, WKU finished 9-4)
We don’t lose to slouches when he’s our leader.
Hop:
7-3 as a starter.
2019: 3-1 First start at USM. Worst game of career. USM finished 7-6.
Ws- LT, UNT, UTEP. L- USM
2020: 4-2 as starter
Ws- FAU, Tulane, UNT, USM. L- Liberty, Rice
They really are about the same.
Hop better runner, intermediate passer.
TJ3 better decision maker, maybe not so much down field, but he don’t take timely sacks. Wills his team to win in meaningful conference games. Deep ball definitely more accurate.
Their success is determined by whether we can establish the run game. Some say we can’t and I say we haven’t tried.
If TJ3 is our leader, why is he on the sideline if he’s healthy? Why are we not committing to run game? Why, when a 2x Champ QB has healed up, would you not give him a start at Protective stadium?
That’s who I’m hoping for, to get the start vs La Tech. Backs are against the wall. Control our own destiny but can’t afford to lose another game. Am I going with the stats guy or the game manager that can will us to a win?
Losing to Rice is the equivalent of losing to Ball State, Charlotte and Coastal(pre-Cinderella). Don’t care about their SOS. Their wins were Tx So and USM.

Let’s just hope this was our yearly “wtf” loss like that 2020 suck fest at LaTech. Seems like every season there is one of these. Could easily fire it up and win out and get the championship.
As of now, if we beat UTSA and lose no other games (and rice doesn’t somehow win out), then the we will still win the west, correct?

I hope so...the break couldn't have come at a better time.

Yes. Win out and need Rice to lose 1. They still have WKU, LT, Charlotte, UTEP.
This is why I’m asking for us to go with TJ3.

Wouldn’t that be some ****, we beat UTSA but Rice wins out… lol… I know this is highly unlikely but how would that work, leaving a 3-way tie with each other with head-to-head wins against each other? UAB>UTSA>Rice>UAB. Is it then based off of computer rankings? Or overall record?

Rice also still has to play North Texas. North Texas at Rice, this Saturday, October 30th. North Texas is due for something good to happen to them.
