At a Minimum, we should charge the three leaving $15 million. That would give us $5 million a piece (conference normally will take 1 share also).
First off, I acknowledge that you said "Minimum," but UConn had to pay $17 million.
UCONN!!! The 3 leaving should have to pony up at least 20.
uconn left in 1 year... the 3 teams leaving are leaving in 2 years.. they are only cutting 27month exit period by 3 months
why would it be 20mil?
I thought the $10m exit period ends June 2024? There is talk of teams playing in their new conferences for the 2023 season.
the exit period is 27months for 10mil....you are technically correct, if any part of that 27 months touches any part of a new academic year you are supposed to stay that full year.. so to not increase the 10mil fee we'd have to stay till june 2024
any additional exit fees with be to cut the 3 months off the exit fee to not touch the 2024 cycle
all3 leaving teams plan to leave at the nd of the 2023 cycle
oh ok. I was thinking they wanted to play the 2023 season in their new homes

You are right my calendar math is wrong
They want to leave after next season is done .. in 2 years..
They want to be in the big at the start of 23..which is 24 months

Not that it matter much. usf had a bunch of extra money from the Big East Exit fees and they still don't have an on-campus stadium or successful program.
LOL. Had to drag us in there somehow. Always on your mind. By the way if you think you will get same money as the L8 when you arrive in B12 I got some swampland for sale.
we're use to it. we didn't get the same money as the big east leftovers. it's just the way things work.
It’s the way it has always worked out but your fan that I was replying to wanted to act like it was an AAC thing.
We got equal tv revenue when we joined the league. We didn't get the exit fees.
There is a huge difference. I don't recall any other realignment where the announcement was accompanied with unequal tv payout for full members of a conference.
Provide links if you have them. I just don't remember that and can't find any articles to support unequal tv revenue.
It is my understanding that when WSU joined the AAC we paid a $2.5 million entrance fee and got 0 TV money until the new TV contract kicked in.

I think normally conferences take your entry money from the tv fees. I believe WSU did get tv fees just maybe a reduced amount. What they didn’t get was Exit money from those that had left.

Rutgers and Maryland got lower media revenues. You can look it up.

TCU got a less than full share of revenue that slowly stepped up when they joined the Big12. Nebraska got a graduated revenue share in the Big10 when they joined. I suspect W Virginia also got a graduated payout. More interesting---not only did Rutgers and Maryland not get a full share when they went to the Big10---they didnt even get the same deal. Rutgers deal was not as lucrative as Marylands deal---despite joining at the same time. I dont think Wichita got ANYTHING from media when they first joined the AAC. A reduced revenue share for new members is not an uncommon practice.

No WSU did not. We got 0 until the new contract kicked in. Which is a substantial increase from the around $370K we got annually from media rights while a member of the Missouri Valley.

Sorry it this was discussed and buried in the thread already, but does anyone know if it simply means the payout stays the same for the incumbent teams with what they are making now and forgoing any escalators as Tim goes on how the original contract was written....... or do those escalators continue. It's a difference over millions over the term of the contract.

I expect all will remain as it is in current contract, escalators included. My guess is at the end of the day ESPN will pay the same $$ for 14 as they did for 11. with new schools receiving smaller shares until the next deal. I think schools were getting 5ish right now, so new schools could get around 2.5, which would be in line with the 2 mil some media person said earlier.
