Surely someone has loose lips. Do some digging man.

I know one of the trustees, but I don’t want to pry like that and break confidentiality.
I feel like whatever it is will be open knowledge by tomorrow. The only time I ever remember them calling an emergency BoT meeting for athletics was when they tried to cut track/field about 5-6 years ago and when they fired David Bennett (the “we need more dogs” coach) to hire Joe Moglia.

I can certainly respect that. It's not worth breaching trust in a personal/professional relationship just so you can bring the "scoop" to a bunch of faceless message board posters you've never even met.
So you're telling me CCUfan4562839944748 is not my friend and can't be trusted to handle confidential info? Wow, just when you think you know people lol...

If you’re really close to the college as far as work or whatever, you know as well as I do that nothing around Coastal stays secret for long. So whatever this news is, I fully expect it will be public knowledge by lunchtime tomorrow.

If South Carolina law is like Arkansas law and I know it is. Our Supreme Courts cite each other weirdly often you can’t go to executive session except personnel matters.

That is not the case in South Carolina. A lot of things are discussed in executive sessions in city, county, and state government that never see the light of day. Does not have to be personnel matters, happens all of the time

My understanding of “executive session” has always been that it’s the President and his cabinet and that outsiders/media are not allowed. I’ve never heard about it being personnel issues only

I serve on a board of directors for an organization in Mobile (not USA) and our meetings are all open to the public/members we represent. About 7-8 years ago we had to go into executive session due to a personnel matter. Not only was that meeting not open to others, but we are forbade about even speaking details about what was discussed. If they didn’t want press or others to know what was discussed they could go into executive session. I don’t think it has to be personnel related, but you don’t want to go into executive session often because the board should be working for those they represent and want to be open with those people. It’ll be curious what comes out from this meeting.

This is what should happen. The East and West need to split up between CUSA and Sun Belt. But it won't because of money.

Conference affiliation isn’t a contract matter.

Well this makes me uncomfortable.

I doubt it has anything to do with Chadwell.

I think it has to be this. I'm thinking the "emergency" status is nothing to look into. Just a way of saying, "Hey guys, we need to meet about this right now because the Sun Belt has said they'd like teams 1, 2, 3, or 4 SOON and we need to look at them and say yay or nay."

I agree. Clearly something that couldn't wait for the scheduled one next week. The SBC must have plans to push before then.
