Who would travel best to the MACC?
This is sort of adjacent to another argument im having on the EMU board (not really an argument). Who has been to Detroit to see their team in a MACC and how well did you travel. I have a ranking in my head but could be far off. Obviously there are variables like a 12-0 season vs. 6-_ but traveling fan base and proximity taken into factor. Who moves the most people?

IMO.
1. CMU
2. WMU
3. UT
4. BG
5. EMU
6. Miami
7. OU
8. UB
9. BSU
10. NIU
11. KENT
12. Akron

RE: Who would travel best to the MACC?
if they are having a really good year it's
CMU
WMU
UT
EMU
because of proximity and #s of alumni in the Detroit area.

if one of those schools kinda lucks their way into a MACC with a mediocre team they might be outdrawn by other conf schools. also depends on how long it's been since school's last MACC trip. if it's a special year and your school rarely competes for MAC titles that improves turnout.

NIU has been to it so many times that I think our fans don't care about it anymore. Also, NIU played many MACCs back when the game was played on a weekday making it difficult for our fan base to travel to it, especially when you factor in the one hour time change.

The highest attended MAC championship game (by far) was WMU vs Ohio in 2016. And it was 90% Bronco fans.

Of course, that 2016 season was special, definitely not the norm.

Whomever is closest.

I went to NIU's MACC games in 2010-2014. I thought our crowd was similar in size to that brought by the teams we played. Maybe BG brought more but my memory is fuzzy of those games.

BG sucked in 2014. They lost all of their crossovers. Compaired to 2013 their crowd would have been smaller.

Believe they lost Matt Johnson to injury in 2014 so yea. We beat them easily that year.

I believe EMU would bring 25000 fans to the Mac Championship game if we ever got to play in it. Looks like this year is another drought.
