La Tech Fans have been spewing venom about the SBC and trashing the Teams in the SBC for a very long time. None of us want to see our Teams suffer and being trashed. I never understood why Tech felt the need to do that over and over in any public forum they could access.

McNeese being in a conference with us would hurt us so much more than somehow “pissing off the Cajuns”.

Second, I believe in bloom where you are planted and what the school does matters more than the patch on the jersey. Win and take care of business and it will work out.

And they made the same mistake C-USA did when they were chasing markets. They got turned down by their 1st and 2nd choices and panicked so they picked the biggest markets they could and rolled with it.

Like the year Tech refused a bowl game against ULM.?. No question La. Tech made some really bad public comments and choices over the past 10 years as they thought they found the Yellow Brick road to a pot of gold. Never say never to Tech in SBC as they have had quality wins in the past, BUT, it will take lots of (as Jimmy Buffet says), mea culpa, , mea culpa, moxi mea culpa on Techs part and then I don’t know if they will have a chance as a 3rd Louisiana school in the conference. Well played ULM, NOT SO TECH.

The biggest mistake ULM made when it jumped to D-1/FBS was not getting affiliated with a conference at the onset. We were independent for 11 years and it did us no favors with the way college football was at that time. It hurt us from the start and follow that with three presidents in a row who felt athletics weren't that important meant we regressed when we really couldn't afford to. We'd see glimpses of greatness but would never reach it. Our new president has a completely different attitude and it shows. Things are happening.

Joining the SBC as a football member in 2005 (?) as an original member was the best thing that happened to ULM. We have been loyal to the conference and have never caused waves. We're here to stay. We've had posters here who have openly wanted to dump us yet we've never said that about any other member school. We're glad to be here. I think it's great if Marshall and USM join in...not only will it improve the SBC, it'll also improve ULM.

SOT, as a Cajun fan, I obviously have said some unkind things about ULM. That being said, the Warhawks have no doubt been a good conference mate and have been very consistent in their unwavering support of all things SBC. Even as regards the Cajuns, ULM as an institution has supported our branding efforts as much as any other school in the conference, even though that support has not been popular with many of their fans and supporters.

I can assure you that institutionally UL has your back, regardless of what some of our fans say.

Gonna piggyback on Vob's comments with hat in hand and also apologize to the ULM fans for anything that I posted in the past. Perhaps it was the "Louisiana" branding pushback, or the fact that our football series was still competitive at the time; but all of these years have given me perspective, and given the state of the current SBC, I too have a lot respect for the contributions you guys have made.

I do agree the Cajun and ULM admin have each other’s back. The schools get along really well. You guys have really separated yourselves lately and I am hoping we are turning the corner with our new President and coaching staff. So far it’s looking promising. If that happens I think this could turn in to a true rivalry with mutual respect. I think do to the fact y’all won the name battle with the approval of ULM and also now that the dust has settled and we are both very happy with where we are conference affiliation wise, I am hoping that with ULM apparently turning the corner and investing in athletics, that we can eventually get to a App-GS type rivalry. It would be good for both schools. Cheers Cajuns and I look forward to ending the year in Lafayette this year and having a few cold ones with you guys under the Eaux.
