They’re a pretty small school and a new program. Once their coach leaves won’t they revert to being just another Belt school.

Coastal’s main donor- our former football coach Joe Moglia- is a multi-billionaire. He handpicked Chadwell and just sank $50 million into a new indoor practice facility and a 2nd field house. So as long as Moglia is alive and kicking, I believe he will be absolutely committed to Coastal winning. Whether we’ll be able to replicate the success we’ve had these past two seasons is another matter entirely. But I don’t foresee us ever going back to being an SBC cellar dweller.

As far as expansion goes, I believe Marshall and SMU are coming to the SBC.

I haven’t heard SMU mentioned before. Big get for the SBC if so. 03-lmfao

You haven’t?? Marshall and SMU is ALL I’ve heard. I see that happening. You gonna stay in CUSA without Marshall?

Florida State felt the same way when they rose to the top in the ACC.

FSU dominated the ACC for 15 solid years. I’m not even sure they lost a conference game in the first decade. I’d stomach a few bad years for that kind of dominance.

With current brand names of Marshall, La Tech, USM plus a good WKU and a rejuvinated UTEP plus hot recruiting hotbed around FIU, and MT, ODU can be quite good, yyou now have a winning combination. CUSA lost some good schools along with some dead weight. The SBC schools can ditch their own dead weight and join us.

Would WOKE ESPN want Liberty ?

That is a good question. Liberty seems to have a pretty good relationship with ESPN. They have their own broadcasting team and TV deal recently signed. Maybe ESPN sees Liberty as a villain for some people and will drive up ratings.

No matter what is posted on these type boards the general public still considers CUSA above SBC. This make a move extremely hard for a school President to sale. Pay exit fees and entry fees to move parallel or down.

I think Marshall was interested in case the AAC took UAB/Charlotte/ODU/FAU

Under that scenario we would have been gone. The exact opposite happened. We got rid of the dead weight and got rid of most of the Texas schools. UTEP is the only Texas school we ever liked to begin with.

Taking 3 of the 4 schools is "the exact opposite"? You could say the three are offset by the three also taken in the West, but it's far from "opposite".

Obviously ODU was the one they really wanted to stay with, so not losing us negated losing the others 07-coffee3

I think that's the USM poster's way of saying that SMU is Southern Methodist University (SMU), not the University of Southern Mississippi (USM)...

CUSA will continue to be dead conference walking until Judy hops into her Jeep and drives off into the sunset, never to return. Then you hope that her replacement isn’t as bad as her or even worse.

CUSA is shedding some real dead weight in bball. The biggest loss is UAB. UNT has had recent success and Charlotte has a history of success, but the other 3 totally suck. This leaves CUSA with 6 schools who have had great success either recently or previously. USM and FIU are the only two schools who id consider dead weight in basketball. If CUSA decides to add NMSU and even Liberty, that makes CUSA a pretty damn respectable basketball conference. It could even surpass the AAC at some point if some of the rumored schools to leave in the future actually do.

Agreed. Here is Liberty's bball record again over the last 5 years.
23-6
30-4
29-7
22-15
21-14

And NMSU
12-8
25-6
30-5
28-6
28-6

If FIU and USM would step up their bball game just a little and if Liberty and/or NMSU is added, CUSA would be a multi-bid league

McMurphy mentions Liberty being the first call for replacement.

Probably one of UConn, Umass, and NMSU too.

Not what I’m hearing. Southern Miss is gone if invited by SBC and that invite is expected within days.

LOL at this section

"Conference USA even hired former Big Ten commish Jim Delany and former Big 12 commish Kevin Weiberg in a consulting role regarding realignment options for the league. They worked with C-USA officials and schools. Let’s just say, their audience was underwhelmed.

Multiple sources said the information provided by Delany and Weiberg was basically common knowledge: You know, Oklahoma and Texas are going to the SEC and the Big 12 added UCF, Houston, Cincinnati and BYU.

“It was so basic, it was something a fourth-grader could have put together,” a source said. “A lot of us were thinking, ‘we’re actually paying for this?’ ”

My god at this rate I’d rather us go back to FCS. If we can’t get to the sunbelt or second choice MAC. Then Go back to FCS where we can play for national titles in football.

I think it stunned Judy. It was certainly too much work for her to handle.

Reading this is so CUSA.

Yes, but there are going to be those falls from grace and time in the cellar again. It's cyclical. Happens to everyone I'm afraid.
