A pain we know all too well. It would be really nice for C-USA to get multiple bids this year. Would make the conference pecking order in football be more palatable.
1991......1991.....
We have had amazing talent and coaching but no ticket to the dance. I mean Paul Milsap talent but no dance. It feels like we would have lucked into a tourney bid by now but no such luck.
Wow. It's hard to believe that it has been that long for a team that, for the most part, has been a consistent winner.
LA Tech Mens Basketball has averaged 23 wins a year for the past 9 seasons. Not sure if anyone else in CUSA or the Sunbelt has matched that.

Is this the year we get over the hump and get that 2nd bid?

I rather the writers pick Tech 8th like last year.
I said last year preseason Tech would be a top team in the conference and Marshall was overrated. Right on both

The key to ultimate success for Tech is the play of Crawford. He has to step up, elevate his game, and be very consistent all season. Lofton will do his thing and have a great year, but opponents know that too and will double him...just like opponents did to Karl Malone. Back then guys like Robert Godbolt and Willie Bland playing that other forward position torched teams who didn't pay them enough attention. Then when they switched and stopped doubling Malone...whoa! He torched 'em.
I think Crawford is that guy who has all the tools to make opponents pay if they over-play Lofton. Yes, guard play is critical in college basketball, have to have championship-caliber guards to win a title, and with Williams running the point, we do. Assuming the new guys will provide quality minutes, the key is Crawford.

Starting from 2011-2012 to Kermit's last season (2017-2018), MT averaged 25.5 wins. Since then, we've averaged 8 wins and now we're projected to be so bad that we're in a our own tier of suck made just for MT....

You guys need to fire McDevitt. What he has done to your program is criminal. He might even have Randy Wiel beat.

Why in the world do you all hang on to terrible coaches for so long? This guy should have already been fired.

From what I gather, they have a good 'Ole boys group that consists of those coaches, the AD, the president, and probably some government officials or trustees over the governing school system Middle Tennessee belongs to.

I love Crawford. I can count on 2 hands the number of times he has literally taken over a basketball game and carried the Dogs to victory. He's a unique talent.
But IMO, Cobe Williams is the key to everything, and he needs to stay healthy this season. Williams puts enormous defensive pressure on the opposing teams guards, and is a very disruptive force. Tech missed him badly when he broke his hand the week before the CUSA Men's Tournament. Furthermore, Tech fans were further reminded of Williams' value when he returned --with a cast on his hand-- for the NIT Tournament and played GREAT.

That's what happens when you let a president from The Bahamas hire a coach. Massaro's hands were tied on this hire.
You almost have to "try" to be this terrible.

Good 'ole boy network. Board chair best friends with AD. Board vice-chair best friend with Prez. Long in the tooth and not wanting to rock the boat on their easy "retirement" jobs.

I did not know that Wiel came from UNC-Asheville. What a bizarre coincidence.

Here are the composite rankings now that Norlander has listed all CUSA teams (3MW + Majewski + Norlander). Heat Check also does decent work, but I'm cheap and they made their predictions part of a paid digital magazine. I'll update with any other semi-reputable predictions that are released:
#1 - La Tech (1)
#2 - UAB (2)
#3 - WKU (3.3)
#4 - North Texas (4)
#5 - Marshall (4.7)
#6 - UTEP (6.3)
#7 - ODU (6.7)
#8 - Rice (8.3)
#9 - Charlotte (9)
#10 - FAU (9.7)
#11 - FIU (12)
#11 - S. Miss (12)
#13 - UTSA (12.3)
#14 - MTSU (13.7)

These guys know that La tech still hasn't won a single conference championship in CUSA. Rank them second in basketball and third in CUSA west in football and you have pretty good odds of getting it right.

Not true. LA Tech has won a couple of REGULAR SEASON CUSA basketball titles. What we have NOT done is win the CUSA Tournament. Big difference.
