AAC & SDSU in talks plus other tidbits
I have not read all the threads on this. maybe this has been posted. I just don't have time. But thought the following might be of interest.

Heard this through my old Big-10 network. No links. Seems like Aresco and the SDSU president and AD have been talking recently and often. Sticking point seems to be around all sports not called football or men's and women's basketball. The echo says Aresco has a real hard-on for the Aztecs.

Aside from that, the AAC folks have been in other discussions with something like a dozen schools, overall, which just makes sense. As of today Army is a hard no. Don't be surprised if UConn gets back into the mix, football only.

The answer to SDSU Olympic sports is simply a larger scale expansion to make the Western Division self-sufficient. Then everyone should be all-sports.

Interesting tidbit about UConn. I didn’t think either side wouldn’t be interested in football only.

Dropping UConn was the absolute best thing to ever happen to the AAC. The AAC supported their FB for years with no benefit from their NCAA-sanctioned basketball team.
Maybe the OP meant UMass. It's basically the same school.

UNLV would have to be a partner out there wouldn't they? I know they suck at football but still they are just simply a brand.

Also taking a football only like UCONN could open door for say a Gonzaga (if there was a western wing). Looking at it that way, would you take UConn football if it meant Gonzaga basketball and SDSU and a few others in the West?

I asked what the diff was a long time ago.

I'm still not sure how to really know the diff between the F_U schools.

We win conference titles and blowout teams like SMU in bowl games. Memphis got us last year coming off covid with our new coach and them having a norvell built team and we got them earlier in our history

I certainly fell for it. I was just happy to see some movement forward with this stuff. I ignored the UCONN thing. I will be aware of his posts for now on.
