Look at their schedules over the years they tend to schedule among each other a lot. Always been the case.

Right. How is it that Tulane vs Rice isn’t a decades old annual affair? Those two belong together.

Yes, those 4 schedule series among each other semi-frequently. Northwestern and Vanderbilt don’t play anymore as James Franklin canceled a series after getting beat by Northwestern.

Tulane and Rice have met 36 times over the years.

In contrast, Duke and Northwestern have met 20 times.

Vanderbilt and Stanford have never met. This will be their first game.

Vanderbilt and Tulane used to be a big game. They have met 48 times, though sadly not in the past 30 years.

Vanderbilt still has played Tulane more times than they have played some SEC teams, such as LSU, Auburn or Mississippi State.
