Not bad, actually. Have the permanent cross-overs above. 9 game schedule, rotate through other 5 cross-division opponents 3 at a time (5/1/3). See every team at least 3 of 5 years. (Redshirt players see each thrice minimum). Two TX teams in each division. One division gets FL, the other gets OH. Old Big 8, SWC, and Big East largely preserved as sub units. 5 of 6 permanent cross-overs make at least some historic sense.

If TCU and Baylor aren't in the same division then that should be the permanent cross over for frogs and bears. There have been 116 meetings which is more than any combo of games between the 4 Texas schools.

They should be together. Do east/west split, move UH east and keep the other 3 in the west.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. Obviously the Leaders/Legends thing is a joke but I don't think there's a geographic split that is going to make sense and appease everyone. This would also balance out the recruiting locations for everyone. For this conference, it's better to look at other more arbitrary reasons to split the schools up than just geography, imo.

5 in division games, 1 annual cross division game (as listed), 2 cross division games (1 from the previous year, 1 new; 1 home, 1 away) for a total of 8 conference games

I saw comments above to fill in a context gap I didn’t have regarding the long term series between TCU and Baylor. I do like the starting point above, so I’d probably just flip Texas Tech and Baylor’s divisions. That’d put TCU and Baylor together again. I would like to keep TCU and Houston as a permanent cross over to have the two biggest Texas metros always playing. Otherwise, with 9 conference games everyone sees everyone else pretty frequently.

RE: Divisions??
By the time teams start playing the requirement of divisions may very well be done away with. The B1G blocked it before but everything I see now indicates they want a single division standings also. You still have to figure out the scheduling and how many trips to Texas each team gets per year but I would expect a single division standings.

One other factor is how many conference games will we play. If we can secure games in the alliance and/or SEC I could see 8 games. If the league doesn't get a spot in the Alliance or we can only secure an annual game with the SEC, this league may need to do 9 or even 10 games.

RE: Divisions??
We could use US Route 50 as a dividing line between North and South. 50 is a really interesting highway, it goes coast-to-coast, Sacramento to Ocean City.

North
UC
WVU
ISU
KU
KSU
BYU

South
OSU
TCU
TT
UH
Baylor
UCF

I'd be fine with this division, except I would swap UCF and BYU. I really don't want to share a division with... them. Their altitude is too high, their teams are dirty and start fights, there's no recruiting there, and they're just plain weird.

RE: Divisions??
I vote for a divisionless conference, rotating the 4 furthest opponents after a home & home.

RE: Divisions??
It would be weird and difficult and almost too obstructionist not to have all four Texas schools in the same division if divisions are going to exist.

That might be difficult when several CST schools all share the exact same “furthest 4 schools”
