Big 12 defense
How well do you think you're team will adjust to the B12.

I know the running joke ..but I read the B12 will start to focus more on defense but it is really hard when you throw an uptempo offense to be successful at it.

How do you think the +4 will do? I know these teams focus a large part on defense. Will this be apart of the turning tide?

Update: I'm full aware Houston and ucf are no longer as big on defense but I know Houston is getting better since we left that type of offense.

But Cincy and BYU gives some top defense and I know it's been getting better in the B12. I'm interested on how this plays out.

RE: Big 12 defense
I don't know a ton about BYU's schemes, but Cincinnati will be an interesting fit in the Big 12 because we are more akin to the Big Ten in terms of style of play. We are a run-first offense and during the Luke Fickell era, our defense has been what we are known for. Up-tempo offenses are fun to watch though.

Since UCF, UC, and Houston are usually near the top of the G5 recruiting rankings and BYU has a lot of older players due to the mission stuff, I think the new members should be able to adjust quickly from a physical talent standpoint. That's not to say it will be a cakewalk -- this is still going to be a big step up in competition, especially with the way schools like Oklahoma State and TCU recruit.

One last thought -- I really wish Memphis was coming with us. I think they are the most deserving program being left behind. Hopefully there will be room for them in the near future. I will also be rooting for SMU to continue their upward trajectory, and I hope Temple, USF, and ECU get their acts together. Don't want to leave out Tulsa, Tulane, and Navy either -- tremendous respect for those programs, but I don't see them moving up to the P5 level. Each program either lacks in resources, alumni base, or recruiting (in the case of Navy's limitations there) to compete IMO. Not meant as a slight to those programs -- just the reality of it.
