My neighbor has a sign on his house that he serves food out of his basement, kids welcome!

But in all seriousness, it really depends on what part of Houston you are in.

This is true, though even the not-so-good parts of the city still have awesome food. You just need to make a point to get in and get out.

Tbh, in Houston the best food are in the most unsavory places. Burns BBQ used to be in a house that looked like it was about to collapse and was in a scary neighborhood, but it was some of the best in Houston.

That is true in most towns. There will be some dives only the locals know.
