Earlier this year, Gaetz was adamant Alford was making false allegations of sexual misconduct against him in order to extort money from his successful and wealthy family.

Back in March when news broke that the Department of Justice was investigating Gaetz for sexual misconduct, the congressman maintained he was being extorted.

"The allegations of sexual misconduct against me are false," Gaetz told Axios at the time. "They are rooted in an extortion effort against my family for $25 million."

For the people with a brain, this does NOT exonerate him from the sex trafficking allegations.

This is just a guy who tried to extort them for money claiming he would get a pardon from any allegations.

Obviously not.

Gaetz hasn't been charged with anything. Just an unnamed source that a newspaper ran with. Now, none of us that have lived in Florida would be surprised if it was true, but so far, he has not been charged nor has anyone gone on the record to say he is being investigated.

Guilt of what? of all the things he’s accused of? some of the things? which ones?

I’ve thought Gaetz was a strange/unstable person for a while now. I believe FL-01, and specifically the conservatives in FL-01, can do better. The allegations against him, and his defenses against those allegations, have done nothing to change that opinion.

*At the same time*, when the media throws a huge bucket of rancid slime against a politician it doesn’t like, and then for more than 5 months no evidence substantiates it, the party whose public credibility suffers is not the politician, but the media. It’s amazing to me that some people don’t seem to understand that.

A G A I N, Gaetz may be completely innocent of any accusations involving underage girls, but this alone does not exonerate him of anything. Some guy tried to extort him and was charged for extortion. That's all that has happened here.

Yea, the same guy that accused him of sex with underaged girls was found to have been extorting the Gaetz family, just like Matt said months ago.
