RE: NTR: Charlie Watts dead at 80.
RIP
Quote:One anecdote relates that in the mid-1980s, an intoxicated Jagger phoned Watts’s hotel room in the middle of the night, asking, “Where’s my drummer?” Watts reportedly got up, shaved, dressed in a suit, put on a tie and freshly shined shoes, descended the stairs, and punched Jagger in the face, saying: “Don’t ever call me your drummer again. You’re my ******* singer!”

Charlie Watts was also a very good artist. He was married and faithful to the same woman since 1964, lived drug and alcohol free since the early 1980’s. Beat cancer in 2004 and walked every day.

Charlie was a rare drummer. It was always about the SONG and his band mates. Didn’t need to be flashy or glorified.
Rest In Peace, Charlie.

Keith will outlive everyone on this board. Ozzy will be his pall bearer, tho.

May Charlie Watts RIP. A legend has left us.

The Bill Dazzle personal favorites ranking of the five most legendary classic rock band drummers:

1A: John Bonham, Led Zeppelin

1B: Keith Moon, The Who

3.: Ginger Baker, Cream (hands down the best drummer on this list in terms of technical proficiency and jazz/world drumming skills)

4A: Ringo Starr, The Beatles

4B: Charlie Watts, The Rolling Stones

I meant to note five most legendary British classic rock band drummers.

If we open it up to drummers of any classic rock band from anywhere ... The Professor is No. 1.

Charlie had already dropped out of the (rescheduled) tour this year:
https://pitchfork.com/news/rolling-stone...procedure/

Now, whether or not they proceed with future tours/albums will be the question.

I was lucky to see Rush three times. My best friend saw the band about 10 shows. Neil was a monster talent — both behind the kit and penning lyrics. One of my all-time favorite rock/pop artists. Long live the memory of The Professor.
