Exactly why we have to keep the SBC together and only add if necessary or advantageous and I’d say we are in a moment where we might could act advantageous if we wanted.

What an interesting set of opinions on that board. One guy equates quality directly with how much their media contract pays. And said something like “if the Sunbelt were so good, everyone in the MWC would want in”. Honestly, who’s trying to travel across the country for every sport?

And the strangest part about that statement is the entire premise of the thread centers around G5 leagues consisting of nearby teams to build rivalries. Lol

04-rock Just craziness. There are a few valid points in it. I think it was the same crazy guy that said that it takes more than one good year to solidly gain standing. We’ve made great progress the last half decade and we were the 2nd best G5 conference last year, but I think it’ll take a few more years of maintaining to solidify the Sunbelt brand.

Just don’t become what the MAC has become and aim for being something amazing. I don’t know the future but I’m sure good things like better TV deals and whatever will follow.

I don't think Sun Belt > Mountain West but we were last year in football . . .

Louisiana never played in FCS/ I-AA

As well as South Al & GAST never truly competed in it as it was just a transitional period for FBS

Wrong...they started FB in 2010 and transitioned to FBS in 2013...few years of FCS...Indy and CAA.

Lol yeah I brought my popcorn to a few GaState games during that time frame. The ineptitude was incredibly entertaining.

Gotcha though they pulled a South Al as well

GaSt didn’t start their program with immediate plans for FBS, they were going FCS until conference expansion happened and the SBC came calling.

I honestly put the Belt just behind the AAC, but ahead of the rest.

Y'all had a great year last year, and look to repeat it this year.

If Anderson struggles there I’m sure they will deem it further proof of the MWC being tougher.

Louisiana has a real chance at beating Texas. UL is a deserved top 25 team right now. Texas is overrated as usual. Beating the horns would shore up last year’s success as no fluke.

Which would be unfair. It's not an apples to apples comparison. However I think even if the SBC is deeper than the MWC in football overall they still have Boise State and their success which we don't have and they have better basketball than us as well.
