Dumb rumor. If it was true, then the SEC will lose it's "culture"... fans and AD's won't like it on both sides.

You think Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Auburn, etc. want to have even tougher chances of winning the SEC?

Makes no sense unless the SEC is going to re-brand itself or reorganize into it's own entity, separate from the NCAA.

You'd be surprised what conferences will overlook as far as academics/geography/culture when ESPN throws out a hypothetical contract with enough zeros.

I don't see the advantage to putting that many good teams in one league. How good will teams like Texas and Michigan be if they have to play teams like Alabama more regularly?

Yes, indeed. Very dumb rumor. One has to wonder why Yahoo Sports would run the story.

For the same reason why TX and OU are going to the SEC.

SEC academics are a non starter for Big 10 teams. Big 10 has more money than the SEC

My first thought when I read this was "What? No.", then I realized one thing that might (I dunno) make this true because the B10 makes buttloads of money with their major D-I hockey attendance in the B10. If you're not from the northern USA like I am, it's hard to know hockey packs crowds to the rafters in their domes. Michigan, Wisconsin, etc., regularly pack in 30-40+ thousand crowds and that is called buttloads of cash. Enough to dethrone the SEC in the money race though? Again, I dunno.
