The pay gap today is usually the product of the careers women tend to prefer over men. The fact that some women put a gap in their careers to raise families. That men tend to be more willing to sacrifice personal lives to work longer hours. Things like this. Most companies today are incentivized to promote women over men so as to avoid legal issues related to inequality.

VS has barely managed to stay alive over the last few years and this is fingernails on a cliff edge hail mary.

The roles of women are ever evolving. They are not simply subjects for our entertainment.

That is, unless they want to be.

Are you suggesting that women preferred to become nurses rather than doctors?

Secretaries rather than lawyers?

I seriously doubt that.

The VS show was always about beautiful women in outrageous outfits. Sometimes, they bent the rules by having someone with a skin condition or of a race not traditionally covered by the western ideal of beauty - but those unusual women were visually interesting in their own way and the show improved as a result.

It's about the wild outfits or the curves (depending on the viewer).

They will not be fully woke until they have at least 50% transvestite models. And don't forget the men who simply like wearing women’s underwear. A few of whom reside right here on this board I would bet.

Straight women aren't buying so they are marketing to lesbians?
That is a big turnaround.

It appears obvious that LBrands spun off VS so that VS could go into bankruptcy without affecting the other brands under the umbrella. (After the sale to Sycamore blew up last year)

This is a last gasp effort at publicity. No, they arent addressing what they should, which is how to improve sales. (Something they should have been doing for the past decade) They are trying to social media some news. But that wont stop the inevitable. (It could, however, speed it up. )

Perhaps you think women should simply be barefoot and pregnant.

You picked the wrong topic to place that comment. Rapinoe makes her living from "entertainment" - and wants to be paid even more for it.

My daughter is 21. We were out and passed by a VS in the mall. The sign at the front of the store that was visible was of the obese woman in the middle from those tweets.

I said something to my daughter about it being sad that they're jumping on the PC/SJW train. Of course, my daughter said something about how VS is embracing women from outside the traditional perspective of western beauty, blah, blah, blah.

I asked her why she keeps bugging me about getting vaccinated. She said because she's concerned about my health.

Bingo! I told her that's why it's sad to see that model. She's obviously morbidly obese. She said something about fat-shaming (all the buzz words). I explained that "morbidly obese" is a medical term and that it includes numerous health concerns. I also explained that the vast majority of severe and fatal covid cases are of people who have comorbidities including obesity.

I told her VS, in their campaign to celebrate all body types, is simply using that women to appeal to others like her for nothing other their own selfish profit reasons. They don't really care about her personally, otherwise they would help her get the help she needs to live a healthier lifestyle.

So I had to turn it back on her... if you're ok with VS glamorizing unhealthy lifestyles then you're really not concerned about the woman at all.

She's a good girl. She's just at that age where you're trying to figure things out and you get caught up in the propaganda. It's a phase.

It is a slippery slope for sure.

Everyone is entitled to appear as they want to. Fat, skinny, make-up, plain, GLB etc..... The problem is everybody judges and that judgement goes both ways, she says fat shaming, you say unhealthy and frankly you are both right.

As for VS - they are just trying to sell merch - PERIOD. Right now external beauty (which is in the eye of the beholder) is the enemy in this game.

Hopefully not.

What many older people don't understand is that many of the things they thought was acceptable in the past is no longer acceptable today.

Being overweight might be unhealthy but it doesn't have to mean that you are ugly.
