No one should be surprised by this.

The former administration abused their power in every way they could.

Before you all clutch your pearls, does anyone know the actual reason why they were sending subpoenas for the account? What crimes they were investigating?

Edit: found it online, it was part of a criminal grand jury probe into threats. Apparently, dropped after Biden took over.

About five months later, the Justice Department stepped in with its grand jury subpoena, arguing that it needed to identify the person behind the @NunesAlt account because of a criminal investigation that involved “threatening communications in interstate commerce.”



Doesn't say what the threats were. Basically, the Media is reporting on he filings from Twitter which are largely speculations on the DOJs motives. No one but the DOJ knows what the nature of the grand jury investigation was.

Sounds like an excuse
