P5 Super league realignment challenge
If/when the P5 and major indies split off, how would you realign the G5 into a G4? There are 2 possible situations, I'm interested in how you'd deal with both:
1) The P5 moves in its entirety
2) They leave deadweight behind

More likely - they split and insist that any schools joining them have to agree to things like full cost of attendance, NIL and things like that. All of the P5 schools will go, as would at least the AAC and at least some of the MWC.
If this happens, and if they insist on this for basketball as well, I could see the Big East, A-10 and the WCC breaking away, too.
I don't think there will be a simple P5 split, and for reasons that have been beaten to death, there won't be a culling, either.

I forgot about the BE in hoops. I'm dubious that the elite P5 will sully themselves with "little brothers", they only put up with them because they've had to thus far. If they exert their authority, they'll get their way.

On the assumption "Little brothers" and deadweight get left behind, here's where those P5 schools land:
WSU, OSU, ZONA, ASU: MWC
OSU, BAYLOR: AAC
KU, KSU, ISU: MAC
MSU, VANDY, KENTUCKY: CUSA
INDIANA, NORTHWESTERN, PURDUE, ILLINOIS: MAC
BC, WAKE, DUKE, UNC, NCSU, SYRACUSE, PITT, RUTGERS, MARYLAND: AAC

If a CFB "super league" happened it would be way fewer teams then any of you are anticipating. Maybe 16-20.
Example: FSU, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Texas A&M, Texas, Oklahoma, Clemson, Penn St, Ohio St, Michigan, USC, Oregon, Washington, Notre Dame, Michigan State
And that would be a huge temporary pay day followed by the complete destruction of college athletics.

RE: P5 Super league realignment challenge
I see the formation of a Super League for football only being possible, but unlikely. I presume that the schools would still want to participate in other sports besides football at the highest level of NCAA (or any successor organization) competition. I see football as fundamentally different than other sports for reasons that have been beaten to death already on this and other forums. So this is a big "what if".
Sixteen major public universities decide to stop sponsoring football within the NCAA, and go it alone. These are all schools that dwarf the others in football attendance, and have national reputations. A high percentage of their players will likely be ready to play in the NFL after three years. A few might stay on longer due to injuries, etc.
Players would be paid a salary as employees of the league, not of the individual schools). Their employment contracts would be for three years, with the players having an option to extend the contracts for an additional two years. Their contract with the league also provides, as an employment benefit, tuition, books and fees if they wish to enroll at any member school. The players are responsible for all other costs of living.
These 16 schools operate as a single entity for football purposes, with four divisions of 4 teams each, but subdivide into two 8 team conferences for membership in the NCAA for all other sports. They play a 12 game football schedule, with three games a year against each division. They don't play any games outside the league. The football divisions are (with the NCAA conferences shown separately):
Northern NCAA conference:
Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan State
Nebraska, Oklahoma, Wisconsin and Texas
Southern NCAA conference:
Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M and Auburn
Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and Clemson
But like I said, all this is highly unlikely to happen.
