He is a good one. He would have solved our inside needs. He grew up about 10 mins from me. Good kid, wish him well.

That was a no brainer for him.. Kid wanted a fresh start after all the covid related sh*t.. I read his knees bothered him.. Roy Williams was leaving, too.
Bruce is a good coach and he actually recruited Kessler before he chose UNC.. Kessler is a Georgia kid and a huge commitment for Pearl.. Will make Auburn a contender again.

His dad, who was pretty good at UGA with some NBA time, told me that had Memphis not signed Wiseman that he would have at least liked to take a Memphis visit/meet Penny. With a little work we might have been able to get in on him. I'm guessing we weren't interested.

I remember Alec Kessler. Microbiology major. Played enough NBA ball to pay for his med school expenses, IIRC. He was good.

Yep his dad is a surgeon now. And they live pretty well so I don't think there's $$ behind this commitment but he does want to make the NBA.

Hahaha... I think there is some confusion.. I realized while reading about his dad.
His dad is actually Chad Kessler who is an ortho surgeon.. He also played for Georgia, but the better Kessler was actually his uncle Alec Kessler.. Chad was selected in the 1986 NBA Draft by the Clippers but was cut off the roster.. never played in the NBA.
Alec Kessler was an All American at Georgia and was selected 12th in the 1990 NBA Draft.. Played 4 years for the Miami Heat.. Unfortunately, he died from a heart attack in 2007.. He was also an ortho surgeon like his brother!

4.4 points, 3.2 rebounds. I don't think he would be able to play defense the way we play, for sure not half as good as Cisse. He moves ok, he isn't athletic. I would rather have Cisse. It sure is weird to see fans who crap on Cisse thinking that this guy is a great player.

That's right. Alex was a little more athletic. Both were talented, and big surprisingly mobile guys, like Chad's son. As I recall we played UGA in the Cotton States Classic when one of the Kessler's was their center. It was Finch's first team I think, on probation, but might have been his best team. We won the classic, hammering UGA, & GA's coach, Hugh Durham, said Memphis could win the SEC with ease the way Memphis played.

Except Kessler leaving was the proverbial straw that broke the Camel's back for Roy Williams retiring ..................
