Biden* Throws Georgia Under the Bus in Lie-Filled 'Interview'
Quote:There have been so many lies spewed by Democrats and the mainstream media on Georgia’s new voting law that it’s hard to know where to start. What’s worse is that those same lies are now being used by the activist left to put pressure on Georgia-based corporations in predictable ways to issue statements condemning the law.

As Bonchie reported this morning, some of them — including Delta Airlines and Coca-Cola — are obediently complying.

To top it off, the President of the United States has apparently been handed a set of bogus talking points about the law and continues to run with them by using loaded buzzwords like “Jim Crow laws” despite even fact-checkers at liberal news outlets like the Washington Post getting involved and saying he’s not being truthful.

But even worse than Biden’s falsehoods about the legislation Republican Gov. Brian Kemp signed into law late last month were comments he made during a Wednesday interview with ESPN in which he threw strong support behind the idea of Major League Baseball moving their All-Star game out of the state in protest of the law:

President Biden on Wednesday said he would support Major League Baseball moving this year’s All-Star Game out of Atlanta in response to recently signed legislation that tightens voting laws in Georgia.

“I think today’s professional athletes are acting incredibly responsibly. I would strongly support them doing that,” Biden told ESPN in an interview on the eve of baseball’s opening day.

“The very people who are victimized the most are the people who are the leaders in these various sports. And it’s just not right,” Biden added. “This is Jim Crow on steroids … what they’re doing in Georgia.”

Biden told two big whoppers there. First things first, polling places do not in fact have to close at 5, as the WaPo’s Glenn Kessler noted in a fact check:

Second, the law does not say water cannot be provided to people standing in line to vote:

FACT: Like the countless other states that have very specific laws against electioneering near polling places, Georgia has codified rules preventing political groups from handing out food or water to voters in line as an incentive to vote, but specifically allows poll workers to make water available to anyone who wants it. The law will also directly cut down wait times, meaning refreshment for people waiting in line will be less necessary.

As Ben Shapiro once famously said, facts don’t care about your feelings. But on this law, “feelings” about the law are drowning out the actual facts, and the effort to demonize Georgia for something they didn’t do is being led by the same guy who promised “unity and healing” during his presidential campaign but who has now apparently abandoned that particular farce.

What’s worse about the calls for economic boycotts of states by the activist left is that such boycotts ultimately end up hurting the very people they claim to want to help:

We saw this very scenario play out here in North Carolina a few years ago over HB2 aka “the bathroom bill.” Progressive bullies threatened the state and convinced hypocritical woke corporations and celebrities to pull business expansions, games, concerts, and other events that would bring in money. Ultimately the state survived and it barely put a dent in the economy here, but in the midst of a pandemic when people are already struggling to find work, a politician would have to be a complete moron to encourage the type of activity that could make employment matters worse for people who just want to earn enough money to feed their families and live their lives in peace.

Sadly, that moron is Joe Biden. If this is supposed to be what passes for “leadership” in this country, we are doomed. This is nothing short of moral cowardice on display by the leader of the free world, who is no doubt being aided and abetted by political con artist and failed 2018 Georgia Democratic gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams, who is not the elections law expert she makes herself out to be.

Georgians should not forget any of this next time they head to the ballot box to vote in local and Congressional elections as well as the next presidential election.

Is facebook going out of their way to note that this is a lie, or do they only do that for the other side?

If I was in charge of GA I think I'd tell MLB to go ahead and move the All-Star Game.

And I'd add that we're about to impose a facility-use fee for professional sports leagues. Every time they use the facility they league will have to pay a flat fee of X*.

* Where X = the economic impact of moving the All-Star Game divided by the number of expected events during a given season.

Oh, and that fee would be permanent, not just for this season.
