The popular thought is he didn't know he was being recorded. But this is such not a big deal. Who knew this was going on? Whooooooooooo knew?

Finebaum blew this off this afternoon. "No video. It's just a sound recording, and so far as I know it has not been verified that it was Rush. Also, when you look at it, there are no names, no specific charges, and no evidence offered."

We’ve all known Hoover has been up to those tactics all along. I’m sure Hewitt Trussville and Thompson have been up to similar things over the past 5-6 years.

Saban needs to pay players about as much as Brad Pitt needs to hire prostitutes. This is the equivalent of some drunk guy bragging about stuff in a bar that he knows nothing about. Now boosters over paying families of players more than market value for goods a services? That is a different story.

Coaches generally don't get involved in such open mouthed boastful connections with players - or their agents. Boosters however are what can cause loss of sleep for coaches if they like to boast about "that 5* player they got for their program". Does the name Logan Young ring anyone's memory bell? He wanted to make darn sure that Bryant and other powerful Bama people knew he was important to Albert Means signing to come to Bama. BTW, Young was a Vandy alumnus who coveted the attention Bama boosters were getting from Bryant. Means on the other hand was embarrassed and transferred back home to finish his eligibility at Memphis (I think he may have played in a couple of games against UAB at that time).
