Murphy retweeted this. Bizarre.

As usual our AD and Murphy's handling of this leaves egg on everyone's face including the school and the program. Which hurts us getting a legitimate new coach. Why is EMU always shooting itself in the foot?

Agreed! Scott Wannabe has had a poorer performance record than Murphy.

How absurd.

Even if the AD does the obvious thing and non-renews, why take the time to make a statement to refute something that eventually happens?

Inept leadership.

June 30, 2021 is the end date for his contract.

I lost the link. Will find.
The point Stevo, is that you simply don't resign him! If he doesn't step down, you either wait him out or fire him...the point is, what is left on his contract is chump change. Most people with pride will step aside when they realize their services are no longer needed. Make sense, champ?

Just fire him. You have to pay him out either way. Give him the remainder of his contract and move on.

Inept leadership.

Can’t disagree with this. And it means it’ll be longer to name a replacement. In a world where everyone is transferring, you want a new guy in ASAP to hit the ground running with recruiting that avenue.

Do contracts expire on March 31?

My guess it might something to do with ending his contract w/out firing. Who will run the program until a new coach is hired, etc.

These are technical and legal issues.

E.g. is he on unpaid leave until the end of March?

This isn't "You're fired. Clean out your desk..."

When I retired from the Fed. Government I had to get between 12 - 15 signatures.

We will owe Rob money, perhaps $150K to go away now. While I am suspecting that is far beyond weasel Wickersham's net worth based on his refusal to concede the Houser bet, it is a small investment for the future of EMU sports.

Get it done, the sooner the better. Hire a new coach, find out who wants to come back and who he wants to return and then get started on building a new program. The more we delay this process, the worse the results.

RE: Breaking News
From Mr Waffles tweet it sounds like he is actually having Murphy come back. If that is the case the Regents should can them both. One for poor results and the other for horrible decisions and creating a worse situation.

How do you get $150k out of 3 months of remaining pay? I'm not a mathematician but I think you might be just a little bit off on your calculation! 03-lmfao Quick edit: are we really paying him $600k? No way...right? Whatever the case, just eat what's left and make this stop!

RE: Breaking News
The issue with real-time updates on current events is that you get a lot of mediocre bits and pieces of information. it's entirely possible that it will take more than three days after the end of the regular season to close the door on the murphy era. that Wetherbee quote sounds like a heavily word-smithed statement that isn't saying much other than "we all have good intentions" which is what most people would say if there isn't anything final to report yet.

my point is that i think it's entirely possible that Murphy is done coaching EMU and it will take a few more days to iron out the details. i hope i'm right, because the Murphy era is cooked.

Which then raises the question what did or did not happen three weeks ago between the two gentlemen.

Look at Murphy’s latest tweet which tells where his heart lies. Hint, It was about EMU.
