Did XU just purposely foul up 1 with 4 seconds left to put Butler on the line for a the 1 and 1? What in the? Butler hit both, now up 1 with a second left.

What an absolute collapse by Xavier. Steele's seat is going to be on absolute fire next year if they struggle. Two straight years where they are on the edge of the bubble and lose to the Big East ten seed in the tournament.

NIT for Xavier.

It sure looked like it. Wonder if that freshman for them didn't know the foul situation.

Duke is about to beat Louisville. If they beat Florida State tomorrow night the media will be begging for them to get in.

That's what I thought. They had only 6 fouls. But no one was really going crazy about it. Just a ridiculous way to lose and probably fall out of the NCAAs. They were up 19 or 20 at one point.

Gee, that's too bad about Zavier. If they get in now it's fixed.

Nice performance by Louise-ville too. The only bad thing about that was that now Dook will probably get in... also fixed.

It looked intentional. Did they not trust their D for 4 seconds. Bizarre!

Might be time to head back to the A10 if they can't hit the top half of the conference next year. They loved to ding on Uc for that back in the day. Living the dream.

#13 Miami FL is down to something like 6 scholarship players [due to injuries and otherwise] and wins their second game in as many nights against #5 Clemson in the ACC tourney. Who knows how far they can go but let's hope our Cats can find some lightning in a bottle like that.

Saw the first half of that game. Clemson was something like 8-9 from three point range and still trailed at the half.

Still laughing that X blew a 19 point lead to a woeful Butler squad.

Their fans are saber rattling for a new coach. Hate to see it.

Odd part is that if they make a change, Brannen would have possibly been a better fit there had he stayed put for 2 more years at NKU. He is besties with Chris Mack and seems to want to run more of a Big East Catholic style of game.

Bolded, even funnier is that some of the X fans think they compete in the real Big East where UC had to contend each year with Syracuse, UCONN and Louisville when they were all winning national championships.

Their fans are in full meltdown mode after blowing a 19 point lead to a Butler team with a losing record (at least UC did it against a pretty capable Nevada squad that year). Some on their boards say Steele's father-in-law is a major donor to X? I have no idea if that's true or how they define "major". But I'll suggest the decision on Steele's future will hinge less on his record and fan dissatisfaction than with Xavier's finances. Men's basketball pays the freight for all their sports and they may have noticed those NCAA Tournament checks have stopped showing up of late. I certainly suspect his buyout would still be in excess of $1 million.

Maybe their students will start a GoFundMe page to buy him out.

RE: 2021 Bracketology & Selection Sunday
I heard a commentator suggest this morning that the Big East now looks like a three bid conference for the tournament. The AAC may well land three in Indianapolis depending upon how the conference tournament plays out. Between the two conferences, it would seem Houston is best positioned for a deep run. Villanova has had a terrific run; the rest of the new BE, not so much.

The American has underperformed in the postseason, aside from UCONN's national championship run. But with Final Four pedigrees for Houston, Cincinnati, Memphis, Wichita and Temple, it has tradition, facilities and resources that would suggest the opportunity has yet to be fully realized. I'm all in for a deep run for the Cougars this year to bolster the AAC profile.
