It means an NIT berth, and if covid strikes a team less than 48 hours before the tourney, we get a bye. So compared to other years it means a little more. The West division titles meant nothing.

Not this year. NIT is only 16 teams with no auto bids and all games are being played in Dallas.

If we stay top 80 in NET we will be in. I didnt know they shrunk the tourney this year.

The team has actually gotten media buzz. Maybe enough to represent a demographic that means clicks and viewers and be attractive to NIT or even NCAA, who of course wouldn't really be considering a team's viewer attracton ability when they make their selections now would they? cough cough.

Look what happened to #2 Horizon League Seed Wright St last night in their tournament quarter final game at home against Milwaukee who was ranked 249 in the latest NET with a 10-12 record. How about blowing a 24-point lead with 6:26 left in regulation and losing in overtime 94-92. What made it worse was they did not foul at the end of the regulation with a 3-point lead and gave up a 3 pointer with just over 1 second remaining on the clock. I can only imagine what their fans are talking about today!

Yes, the raiders lost in 2019 to NKU in the finals who they defeated twice during the regular season and now to Wisconsin- Milwaukee this year. Yet the Rockets have such a tough time in beating them either at their place or in Toledo.

RE: UT vs CMU
the loss to cmu didn't change our ncaa tourney picture, need to win the mac tourney either way. the cmu loss probably knocks us out the NIT if we lose in the mac tourney, but with this group and all the focus on making it to the dance i don't think NIT in Texas is anything but a loss.

Any word on Hill's ability to play yet this year?

A few weeks ago K said he was healing a bit slower than originally thought. Then he would have to get back into game shape. Sounds like they are calling it a season and focusing on rehab and next year.

I agree with you Pono. I get the sense that this year’s team is focused on "getting to the Big Dance” or bust, so I don’ think they would be in the mood to play in the NIT if they got upset in Cleveland. In addition, I just heard Houston Coach Kalvin Sampson say on ESPN Radio that he is very disturbed that the Governor of Texas has just lifted the wearing of masks mandate and how that will impact the American Conference Tournament in San Antonio next week. Sampson said, he and other Conference teams might consider skipping their Tournament to decrease the chances of players, coaches or staff members getting COVID and then having to sit out of the NCAA Tournament the following week because of protocols. This could become an issue with teams getting invited to the NIT as well!
