ASUN / WAC Challenge
I know the ASUN / WAC Challenge is a football thing, but I’d like to see us play the WAC in a basketball challenge as well. We are similar conferences on opposite sides of the country. We both consist of publics, privates, DII call ups, and teams that have switched from other conferences. It would be a good opportunity to bring the ASUN brand to the southwest and pacific region.

ASUN. . . . . . . . WAC
Liberty . . . . . . . Cal Baptist
Bellarmine. . . . . Grand Canyon
Lipscomb . . . . . .Abilene Christian
EKU . . . . . . . . . New Mexico St.
Jax St. . . . . . . . Utah Valley
C. Ark. . . . . . . . Southern Utah
FGCU . . . . . . . . .Sam Houston St.
North Florida . . . S.F. Austin
Jax . . . . . . . . . . Lamar
Stetson . . . . . . . UTRGV
North Alabama . . Tarlton St.
Kennesaw St. . . . Dixie St.

I still think this should happen in men’s/women’s basketball.

RE: ASUN / WAC Challenge
What do we offer each other to make the challenge worth it? Like the whole ACC/Big Ten challenge or Big 12/SEC, it gives must-watch games between top conferences. Maybe the WAC wants to play us for our east coast exposure and good recruiting areas.

Must watch? I don’t watch either of those conference challenges. Not interested in them.

I think it would offer the ASUN western exposure. It would offer both conferences a chance to play for conference pride.

As a WAC supporter, I don't see any reason for a series like this, or much benefit for either side.

How would that work? None of these schools wish to fly all over the county to play.

It doesn’t help the WAC or the ASUN, but this season it’s helps those 7 schools that are moving from a current D1 Conference by giving those schools an opportunity to be playoff eligible this season.

In non-football sports, the schools moving from a current D1 Conference are playoff eligible this season.

Switching from the OVC to the ASUN didn't affect the eligibility of JSU or EKU, and moving from the Southland to the ASUN didn't affect UCA's.

The same is true for all the current D1's moving to the WAC.

The only sport where playoff eligibility was a question was football, and that was only from the standpoint of a conference autobid. With or without the AQ7, all the currently eligible schools would've still been eligible for a playoff bid.

I still don't know what an asun/wac challenge in basketball would look like.
A tournament, the winner of one plays the winner of the other, or a season long thing?
Are talking one game or ten.

I was imagining something like the Big Ten - ACC challenge where each school gets one opponent from the other conference (one ACC school gets left out since they have an extra member).

I think more conferences should schedule events like this in basketball.

There is a lot of travel involved so I don’t see it happening. I think it would be a good option to do with the CAA, SoCon, OVC or Big South.

First time hearing about the AQ7. Very neat.

Also, Dixie State is changing its name to Utah Tech, though that's not been totally finalized.
