MAC Tournament Bracket Tiebreaker?
In looking at the MAC Standings currently, Toledo has a ½ game lead over Akron going into this week’s games. If both Toledo and Akron win out, they will tie for first place at 16-3. My understanding of the tie breaker is that Akron would get the #1 seed in the MAC Tournament because of the following scenario which comes into play after "head to head" which will not apply as the team's split their two games:

Winning percentage* vs. ranked conference teams (top to bottom, regardless of division, vs. common opponents regardless of the number of times played). If everything plays out, it would come down to the current 6th place team BG being the tiebreaker as they split with Toledo but will have been swept by Akron.

With that said, we need Toledo to beat WMU, CMU and Ball St and have Akron lose at least one of their remaining games at Ohio, BG, at Buffalo or Miami for the Rockets to get the #1 Tournament seed. It’s too bad Ohio is coming off a two week COVID interruption as I think they have the type of team that could knock off Akron tomorrow afternoon in Athens. With that said, I hate to say this, but we might have to become BG fans for one night this Friday as the Falcons attempt to get revenge on Akron winning earlier this season at The Stroh Center! Go Bobcats!

If I am wrong on the tiebreaker format above, please correct me.

RE: MAC Tournament Bracket Tiebreaker?
If Akron wins out more power too em. They had a good season and beat good teams. Theyll also be riding a big winning streak going into the tourney. They slumped and came out of it. Although they will have lost to the two worst teams in the league.

Both Rockets and the Zips will have a win over the teams they lost too as well, which is very impressive.

Coach K did say we play better with a chip on our shoulder, so being the #2 seed is a fuel for the boys. It does suck that we dont get a shot at a remake because other teams have higher responsibilities to make up games against squads they have yet to face.

RE: MAC Tournament Bracket Tiebreaker?
if akron sweeps those 4 games they deserve it. i think we are a better team and match up pretty well with them, so doesn't really matter. the seedings are still unclear for 7th/8th between miami and ball st, although I'd assume we want to play miami. falling into the 2 seed likely means a semis games w the BG/Kent winner (kent will still be without Nuga, their #2 guy). the 1 seed likely plays the buffalo/ohio winner which may well be the tougher match up.

OU wins today. That helps UT for sure. Just take it a game at a time and we should be OK. Don't need the tie breaker.

The Rockets are now alone in first place and would win the tiebreaker against Akron because of a better winning percentage against OU (1-0 vs. 1-1).

Bizarre game. Preston did not play for Ohio. Another starter for Ohio and their top rebounder did not play either.

Akron looked terrible. Couldn’t shoot. Just looked wrong altogether.

The Mid-American Conference announced today that two additional MAC contests have been added to the men's basketball television package.

Buffalo will host Kent State on Friday, March 5th at 6:00 PM ET. The game will air live on ESPNU. Additionally, CBS Sports Network will air the Ball State at Toledo matchup an hour later at 7:00 pm ET.

So the potential first round opponent in the last game. Not sure how much I like that

That’s the concern with our potential first round matchup w ball state. They suck a fat one a fair amount of the time but then have games where everything they throw up goes in.

We do defend the line pretty well so that’s a plus. If we win the two before that nothing else matters for the regular season, right?

It would appear but I don’t know that I want to go into a quarterfinal matchup against ball having lost to them twice this year.

I thinkmaybe Ball St has a few wins in their schedule. Miami looks to have the road to 8th.

Ball St: CMU, EMU, Toledo
Miami: WMU, Kent, BGSU, Akron.

Miami will play 1 more league game than ball state so that could play into it as well.
