It's the 60's all over again. The Congo, Rhodesia, and South Africa were the sources of our defense needs in rare earth minerals back then. The commies infiltrated and were successful in regime changes in all of them. Quality of life went down for the indigenous people when the Brits, Belgians, and U.S. pulled out. It's been war lord after war lord ever since. South Africa might have made the best transition but it is still too early to tell.

Anyway you look at it it's time to punt China's ass out of South America and out of Africa. There are things they can't live without if we do so. Quid pro quo is good for long term survival.

And Trump would tell China that we will respond by hobbling thier defense industry by stopping exports of rare earth Middle East oil to China.

At the moment China has not got the navy or air craft to challenge the US. In another four years of building theirs and us pussyfying ours, who knows.

By the time Sniff or Swallow, whichever is in office in six months, gets done with all our military branches all China has to do is say a few mean words via loudspeaker and our side will start crying and running for the nearest safe space.
